Re-removed my radio today, and also deleted the antenna this time as well.

E36 M3 CSL Radio delete plate 65.11.1.384.855
Ti radio antenna hole rubber plug 51.71.1.855.009

I found a lot (like nearly 2 inches) of water under the small left hand side plastic trunk bin. I thought water was from the antenna grommet (that was bad, and recently changed) but clearly it is coming in somewhere else. I will start a new thread, but wondered if anyone else had water here, and where they found it came from???

Removed my flat spare tire and mount and plugged the open hole. Also replaced my 3rd brake lamp bulbs and one in the left tail lamp.

Check your tail light. I had the same issue and that was where mine was coming from.

I will see if I can check the tail light today. I don't know what would have changed, but maybe it always leaked... I can't have water collecting in here.

Last night I changed the headlight and fog light switch back-light bulbs. What a futher mucker that was! I did it years ago and don't remember it sucking so bad, but it sure does! The fog light bulb is easier, with more room to work, but the headlight bulb is the worst. I thought I was going to break something pulling it out, but it is all good in the end.

I also re-polished my cluster lens while I had it out.

It turns out I had a set of these bulbs in my stash already, so I still have a spare set (and now four to change to LEDs). What I did not do, is note the polarity of the connection so the LED will actually illuminate- the polarity has to be correct on these. Does anyone know which pin is (DC+) and which one is (DC-)? Maybe in another six years I'll have the bulbs ready to go in.

I never knew mine was leaking and found it by accident. I was just going through and cleaning everything and noticed where it was wet. Like you I was a little stumped as to where it came from. Pulled the carpet and everything to make sure there was no un-plugged hole or rust hole etc. Never could find it. It was pouring down rain one day at the grocery store and when I opened my hatch to put groceries in I remembered the leak, checked, and saw the small water trail from the light. It wouldnt do it when I washed my car. Only in a heavy rain. Also, start looking at the tail light on that side and see if you notice any moisture or just take the bulb panel off and look in the light for any. You could have a small leak on the light its self. If enough water builds up inside it can come over the lip and into the cargo area. Hope this helps and you get it solved. Nothing worse than something leaking in or out and you cant find the culprit.

took my front sway bar and mounts off to see if it was the source of a knocking/vibration.

it wasn't, anyways i think that its probably the engine mounts, anybody know if that could be it?

Absolutely. Does it knock on takeoff? Leave the hood open and drive forward while someone stands outside and watches the engine.

Check your trans mounts as well- it's a cheap, easy replacement (much more so than the engine mounts).

Ok, well try taking off with the parking brake engaged while someone stands outside and observes.
