If you could buy a Front strut and rear shock tower brace for 275 bucks for the set. But it was a very plain setup would it sell? I am REALLY frustrated witht he overpriceing of BMW accessories in this area. If I put together a setup that performed with minimum cosmetics (Plain Aluminum) would it have a demand? Just thinking... I'll post a sample picture when I get mine done... (this assumes that it's not patented, or that you can design around the patent). the other issue is using aluminum. what grade of alloy? pure aluminum is a pretty terrible choice since it cracks easily and is too soft for this application. also, how is it manufactured? CNC would make sense, cold forging might as well, cast would be terrible. just trying to get you through the thinking process, because i think this is a pretty good idea. | | | 04-07-2005, 10:12 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: madison, WI Posts: 402 | Quote: Originally Posted by pdxmotorhead If you could buy a Front strut and rear shock tower brace for 275 bucks for the set. Things are way overpriced for BMWs. There would be a demand for something like that as long as it performed well. | | | 04-08-2005, 02:20 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: state college, pa Posts: 3,431 | m44ic; you may want to add a few crossbars. doesn't seem like it would reduce torsion very much. pretty cool though. | | | 04-08-2005, 02:28 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: madison, WI Posts: 402 | Quote: Originally Posted by aceyx m44ic; you may want to add a few crossbars. doesn't seem like it would reduce torsion very much. pretty cool though. | dont wory I was planin on it, I welded the bar in today while the mounts were bolted in the car __________________ Mods: clear turn signals, Silverstar headlight bulbs, k&N custom CAI, removed A/C, lightened crank pulley, painted brakes, custom clutch stop, custom strut bar, x-brace, custom solid tranny mounts, Memphis sound system, Sachs sport clutch, B&M short shifter, lightened flywheel, redline MTL ....
