Default Potential awesome swap. need answers

a few questions.
-what am i getting myself into with these cars?
-how many different kinds of engine swaps can be done?
-has anyone ever dropped a non BMW engine into his/her 318ti?
(such as, RB25det, RB26det(t), 1JZ-GTE, 2JZ-GTE, 7M-GTE, SR20DET. etc..)

reason i ask that is because my cousin has an RB25DET in his garage and i want to use it pretty badly haha

any help and info would be greatly appreciated thanks!

Any engine can be put into any car if you are a genius.

Otherwise, you might want to stick to the common 6cyl BMW engine swap.

there was a video posted here from youtube that showed a ti with an S2000 engine in it... but this was in JAPAN.
Unless you're planning to completely gut out the car, and customize all the components to work in it... then don't!
If you searched here and nothing turned out, that means something!... the easy & sure way to go is to do a BMW engine swap...
Here's the video!

anything can be put in anything with the right tools, know how, time, and money.

But as the saying goes... if you have to ask, you probably can't pull it off.

Just go over to bimmerforums.com, engine swap forum, EVERYTHING has been done and documented there. Same e36 chassis, just a different rear suspension. You wont find much of any information on this site.

3:11 always makes me but I love it. Actually I think i like the sound of that motor better than the bimmer 6.

yeah that is a pretty nifty video. thing is about the RB25 swap is that it seems like fitment would be an issue. as well as finding a driveshaft that would work. as well as the rear diff. an SR20 seems like it would be a very nice swap due to size and power potential of the engine itself.
