It's the front part of the air intake on M3 e36's. It's from the Euro M3 and has an additional tube that connects to the drivers side brake duct which allows more air into the intake, esp when the car is moving and the brake duct is pressurized. It won't fit the 4 cylinder cars, but for anyone that has a 6 cylinder swap or regular e36 M3, this would be a nice addition.

I've seen this on BAV AUTO. Can you feel the difference or hear the difference? I have an e36 M3 so this should fit. Thanks.

I don't hear of feel any difference. BUT I'm convinced there is a difference, as why would a big huge company like BMW make a whole other part if it did nothing?

It will provide more air to the air box, but you have to be moving to 'ram' the air into the box from the brake duct.

SO, even if you did a dyno' run before and after, I would expect you to see no difference.

If you provide 100+ MPH wind to the brake duct (and intake horn) and do a dyno' run, I would think you WOULD see a difference. The problem is finding a dynomometer in a wind tunnel...

Does this require a specific connection to the brake duct? I am assuming once the hole is cut, the down tube fits in. Thanks.

There's a foam bit that seals the top of the brake duct. There is also a template marking exactly where to cut the brake duct (but there is also another template, so you have to be sure you are cutting out the correct one).

I cut mine with a Dremmel and the little metal burr drum. It cut it like butter, and I was able to 'stay in the lines' better than trying to cut it. It's not a round hole by the way, it's a bit of an oval.

Thanks. Let's see if he's got the whole kit. I have a Dremmel and, yes, cuts like budder. Cut the air baffle in my '95 ti like hot budder >

Like J!m said, there is no "kit". All you need is the piece in the pic, which does have the foam ring for sealing against the brake duct opening. All you would need to do is take a Dremel tool to the brake duct and insert the tube into the hole. Pretty straight forward.
