My friend owns a 1996 GMC truck with a vortec engine, single cab, auto. If I recall, they have 450hp. Now we were gonna race on Lime Creek. It has lots of twists, turns, dips, and hills. It's any bmw owner's dream. On day 1, me and another friend who owns a manual 325i raced, and I left him pretty far behind. Then I slowed down for a few seconds to let him catch up. I really pushed my car to the limit that time. Only performance mod is strut bar, and fogged air box. On day 2, me and another friend who owns a m3 played tag, and I had a hell of a time trying to leave some space between us. He was just to good. I tried cutting corners, and accelerated as fast as possible on curves to the point that the tail was sliding every few seconds. Though, he told me that he underestimated the power a ti. His m3 is 1" lower and has a strut bar. So my question is, how well do you think I will do against the GMC after I get my suspension in and rims? How tail happy are these trucks? A lot of the turns on the roads are somewhat uphill u-turns, and if you're going above 20mph on them, you will slide into a ditch. Keep in mind that I left the 325i pretty far behind, and gave the m3 the run for his money. The whole point of this, is on Jan 30th, there is a bimmer meet going down in my area. And after a minutes of chit chatting, we're gonna go on Lime Creek, fill out the waiver, and go racing. I don't want to finish last. Both guys with the 325i and m3 will be there. __________________ Come get a ti-shirt Quote: From the e30 M3, evolved the e36. There is a straight away at the start. I was able to hit 105mph last time. But after that one straight away, it's nothing but full of turns and twists. This kid with the GM has been somewhat a rival. I would hate to lose to him. I'm so confident after the race with the e36 325i. I know I can nail him on the turns. But the thing I'm afraid of is that once he gets ahead of me on the straight away, I'm gonna have a hard time passing him. Do yall have any sort of passing techniques? I'm holding off this till I get new wheels. Even the bimmer meet. If I don't get wheels by then, I'll just sit it out and ride in the passenger of a m3 and record it for yall. Btw, there is money riding on this __________________ Come get a ti-shirt Quote: From the e30 M3, evolved the e36. The guy with the m3 had the strut bar and suspension. And I didn't bet any money with the 2 bimmers. We were just having fun. The kid with the GMC is the one I'm betting against. So back to the question, how do I pass him? The road is pretty narrow. If his truck gets tail happy on turns, I wont be able to pass him. __________________ Come get a ti-shirt Quote: From the e30 M3, evolved the e36. Man you shouldn't even be racing if you have to ask this question. There could many ways to pass him. It depends on what the situation is. And there could be several situations that would call for different maneuvers. I would say if you have a problem with passing....then don't let the truck get in front of you. You can handle this by yourself. Now go be a big boy and beat the truck and win some extra cash. __________________ custom dual exhaust,M3 front and rear bumper, 10.4 inch roof mount drop screen, Viper alarm system, DSII's rims, M3 Vader Seats, M3 Mirrors, Carbon Fiber CAI, Smoked Corners, Side Markers, Leatherz armrests, black grilles 225k miles and still the Ti goes on | | | 01-17-2009, 11:28 PM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Elizabeth City, NC Posts: 3,877 | Those guys with the 325is and M3 must be terrible drivers or have POS cars because there is no way a ti would beat either of those when everything is stock. If you can "beat" an M3 then why are you so worried about some SUV? __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 01-18-2009, 12:09 AM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Denver, Colorado Posts: 3,212 | My bro has a 98 chevy and you aint got nothin to worry about going against the truck. The Ti would do good against it, but there's no point in doing so. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
