I just notice that the airbag light turned on,
1997 Ti with 160K miles,
Why would this light just turn on one day?
And is there a way I can clear or reset it?

Most likely passenger seat mat.
Next possibility is the seat belt latch.
You need a device to clear the fault after repairing it.
Be sure no wires are cut under the seat. __________________ ...steven

I haven't gotten that far with any diagnosing. I'm working on fixing the crash damage now and then will be tending to annoying lights. THe PO wired up a button on the dash for the horn b/c it hasn't worked in a long time. I'll see if anybody local has a scantool. I have a lot of little issues that I need to tend to with this car but I will be getting to this issue at some point. I'm sure I can find someone in my area. Right now cars and coffee meets are on hiatus d/t the awesome winter weather. Most of my BMW friends are E30, E28 or E21 guys so I'll have to work a little to find the tool. __________________
