Thanks for posting this info/pics Eric. I'd been having this unstable low idle issue for a few month but assumed it was due to a vacuum leak. I first tried replacing the PCV and PCV Hose but no joy. Then I removed, disassembled, cleaned, reassembled, and installed the ICV and it's fixed! My '97 TI now has 159K Miles and runs better than ever.

Glad to hear it! Sometimes it's better to keep it simple and fix what you've got than to throw new parts at a problem.

Smile This worked for me too! Thanks!

Eric! Thanks, I too was able to fix an erratic idle issue following your instructions! Mine idled well when moving and in neutral, but seemed to idle too low once stopped and didn't seem to compensate when accessories such as the rear defogger was on. It took me about 20 minutes total as I waited a few extra minutes since I disconnected battery and wanted to make sure and give it time for residual power to escape. Once hooked back up, the idle was immediately better and when I turn on an accessory there is very little lag before the ICV properly compensates and idle remains constant as it should. This should be considered general maintenance and its sooo easy to do. Thank you for you post!

P.s. I used a 1/8'' drill and the brass post came right out with the drill (its hollow and the 1/8 fits just perfect for it to grab and twist it out without drilling it - screwing it out with friction basically) . This allows you to reuse the pin and get it back to as good as new once reassembled. Hope this tip helps someone else.
