Default 1998 318ti M-Tech Specs?

Hey guys, I was just wondering what the upgrades are on the m-tech models ('98 to be specific). I know about the stiffer susp., but I would like specific details please about any of the upgrades. I would appreciate any help. Thanx.

^Thanks Josh.

Does anyone know if there are any modifications to the engine? Or are the suspension and brakes the only performance upgrades? Thanks again.

yeah the engine in a sport or clubsport is the same as the engine in an active or base, the only difference in engines is in the model year, 98s have M44s

The brakes are actually the same across all models of the same production date.

Suspension-wise you get shorter springs, different struts, and larger sway bars. Sport models also come with 16" alloys.

agreed the seats are a huge improvement!

and by vented brakes i mean vented rotors.

and yes they are different rotors on different years.

Thanks for all the info so far. I also heard that the transmission was shorter in the m-tech, so i'm wondering what its 0-60 time is, i know the base models do it in 9.9 seconds, so with the sport tranny the m-tech should be a bit quicker. So let me know if you guys know anything about this. Thanks again!

you're thinking of the "sport mode" that the automatics have, a clubsport ti and a base ti have the same engine and trans.

all 5 speed ti's will have the same tranny (slightly slightly different as the years went on but nothing noticeable.)

acceleration wont be different for different models. unless one has a limited slip (doesnt matter for 97+)
maybe a tiny increase in accel since the sport suspension is stiffer but not much

My '98 sport has solid front rotors, the vented were a mid year change across all models.
