It said it had a 15psi spring in it. I also got another spring that says add this spring with the 15psi spring for 30psi. I'm only boosting 12psi. I have a manual boost controller. If I put boost to the side port on the wastegate I loose 3-4psi. If I put boost to the top nipple on the wastegate I nothing...12psi. How do I jack up the boost with the manual controller? Do I need to just go purchase a 25psi spring? That's what I'm going to run daily... Ho yea this fcuker is real fast. My wife took me for a ride a 12psi and damn it nice. I asked the wife what she thought and she said "this car is nuts to drive anymore, it's too dangerous for me....I bet she is all over it in a week or two Last edited by xxxJohnBoyxxx; 07-23-2009 at 10:32 PM. | | | 07-23-2009, 10:42 PM | #213 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Central NJ Posts: 2,440 | I wish there were a "like" button as on Facebook so I could have clicked it for your last post . Air pressure allowed to enter this second port aids the spring to push harder in the direction of closing the wastegate. This is exactly the opposite of the first port. The ability to help the wastegate remain closed as boost pressure builds can be increased. This also adds further complexity to boost control, requiring more control ports on the solenoid or possibly a complete second boost control system with its own separate solenoid. Use of the second port is not necessary. Secondary ports, unlike primary ports, cannot be simply attached to a boost control line and require electronic control to be useful. | As for the MBC: it's likely a ball & spring setup with a knob to adjust the spring preload to set the boost level at which signal is sent to the wastegate. Quote: It is installed with one vacuum line coming from the intake somewhere after the turbocharger, and one vacuum line going to the wastegate. A knob changes the force on the spring which in turn dictates how much pressure is on the ball. The tighter the spring, the more boost that is needed to unseat the ball, and allow the boost pressure to reach the wastegate actuator. There is a bleed hole on the boost controller after the ball, to allow the pressurized air that would be trapped between the wastegate actuator and the ball after it is seated again. | __________________ 2003 Z4 2.5i 2002 Ducati Monster S4 Last edited by lpcapital; 07-24-2009 at 12:13 AM. | | | 07-24-2009, 02:18 AM | #215 | That's not Millpoint Blue Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: BNA Posts: 3,161 | Quote: Originally Posted by xxxJohnBoyxxx My wife took me for a ride a 12psi and damn it nice. I've got rehab from 10:30~11:30 then a family swim at dad's until about 2-3pm. Then I'm free. There is a board member that is about 1.5 hours north of me that might come down this weekend to see this in person. If he does I will let him drive me over there to meet you... | | | 07-24-2009, 02:49 PM | #217 | That's not Millpoint Blue Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: BNA Posts: 3,161 | Quote: Originally Posted by xxxJohnBoyxxx There is a board member that is about 1.5 hours north of me that might come down this weekend to see this in person.
