There is a WTB section... try there. Also try giving it more than a day.

If you're going to throw in a new rack, just go for a remanufactured ZF Z3 rack (stick with the name brand). It's quicker (2.7 turns lock-to-lock) and apparently has great feel, is tighter, etc. (I think Ti racks are 3.1??? someone call me out if I'm wrong)

I know M3 racks are variable...and those guys love the feel when they "upgrade" to a Z3 rack (linear steering response)...but I have no idea if the Tis had a variable rack...

Hey ppl, is the oil pan on a 97 ti sport attached to the transmission.
According to my mechanic the oil pan is attached and thats why labor is like a lil over a grand.
Is this true????

i mean, it has three bolts that go through the transmission, but you don't need to remove the transmission. Doesn't make it any harder.

Yes. You do have to either drop the front subframe or raise the motor a bit to be able to get the oil pan down. You don't have to remove the transmission, but it would also get lifted up a bit if you lift the motor to get to it. It isn't a super quick job, but 1000$ for labor seems really high.

It is possible to remove the oil pan by taking off the trans, he's not lying per se he's just taking that route. The other way to do it involves lifting the engine off it's mounts. The oil pan is a big job no matter how you do it.

oh. ok thank you. and that applies with any kind of oil pan work such as replacing it.
Also the ZF Z3 racks, are they worth the upgrade and if so where can i find them remanufactured/used for a good pirce??
