Default 85w Headlights

I have a set of DEPO Projectors and got tired of not only not being able to see well at night, but didn't really like the color of the bulbs that they came with (I'm assuming in the 3500K-4000K color range) I just installed a set of 85W 5500K H1 bulbs and the difference is amazing. Much whiter, brighter, and I can actually see things on dark roads. Because of the higher heat output of these bulbs, they came with a lead wire that was about 16 ga. and had a ceramic base on the plug (I assume to better dissipate heat). While I'm a little concerned that I may have shortened the life of the stock DEPO wiring on these headlights, after thinking a little further I'm wondering if these higher wattage bulbs may also shorten the life of my alternator. Does anyone have any experience with this? I have attached some before and after pictures...

New LED running lights (bluish) and clear corners with white lights

My apologies for the crappy cameraphone pics.
