A 6cyl clutch will be too big for a 4cyl flywheel. You can either get an aftermarket LTW flywheel(which all of the ones I've seen were single mass) or an OEM dual mass fw. There's been a little discussion of whether an OEM single mass fw would work, but I don't think anyone has found a definitive answer or actually tried it. Just did a quick check on realoem and to my surprise BMW uses the same starter on the e30, e34, e36, e39, e46 and Z3. Now this is just the starter, so we know the teeth will line up and engage. I'm pretty sure the flywheel bolt pattern is the same on all e36's. Im getting an entire swap from an M3. it has an oem clutch and flywheel fairly recently replaced. so i would actually be able to bolt that right up to the m44 no problem then? __________________ ***Derek*** ^^Lola^^ Pioneer radio/ Pioneer 6-Disk CD Changer/ JBL 601.1 Grand Touring Amplifier/ Bilstein Sport shocks/ Bilstein e36sedan springs/ Green LED Courtesy Lights Accident Counter: 3... | | | 02-04-2012, 08:29 AM | #4 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | I'm not 100% positive that they have the same flywheel to crankshaft bolt pattern. Before you purchase it, you should shoot Bluebimma a message, he'll know for sure. I do know that he used my old M3 flywheel on his M50 and the M50 uses the same transmission as the ti, so the M3 clutch and flywheel will certainly work with the ti's getrag transmission and starter. The only thing I'm not 100% on is the actual bolt pattern on the flywheel. | | | 02-04-2012, 08:32 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2010 Location: Scranton/Wilkes-barre area PA Posts: 454 | the transmission im getting is the ZF that should work right? nd will do on checking with bluebimma i also have an M42 fw, and clutch lined up for $70 so either way i could take the m3 one and sell it off for a few bucks if it didnt work lol __________________ ***Derek*** ^^Lola^^ Pioneer radio/ Pioneer 6-Disk CD Changer/ JBL 601.1 Grand Touring Amplifier/ Bilstein Sport shocks/ Bilstein e36sedan springs/ Green LED Courtesy Lights Accident Counter: 3... | | | 02-04-2012, 08:38 AM | #6 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Yeah the ZF will work, but the output flange and flex disc has a larger bolt pattern. The Zf tranny is also about an inch and a half longer than the getrag, so you'll need an M3 or 328 driveshaft front section. And you'll probably need the transmission crossmember also. | | | 02-04-2012, 08:54 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2010 Location: Scranton/Wilkes-barre area PA Posts: 454 | ive got both the whole driveshaft and crossmember included with the swap __________________ ***Derek*** ^^Lola^^ Pioneer radio/ Pioneer 6-Disk CD Changer/ JBL 601.1 Grand Touring Amplifier/ Bilstein Sport shocks/ Bilstein e36sedan springs/ Green LED Courtesy Lights Accident Counter: 3... | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
