Default Driveashaft and shifter linkage question

Hi all, new member here. I've just completed installing a 1994 m50 vanos engine into my 1995 318ti, using the stock ti getrag transmission. It actually installed nice and easily, and I also managed to use the stock m42 full driveshaft and shifter linkages... Everywhere I look people say you need the 325i front driveshaft section and shift linkages...

My question is, am I likely to damage something? Or is it more about optimal shift lever placement in the console? I tested it out and I am able to select all forward and reverse gears.

Anyway, thanks in advance for any info.

You should be fine as the early e36 cars all used the getrag 250 tranny that was in your ti. Everything should fit normal and handle power well.
