Default factory radio re-install question

I am trying to re-install the factory radio on a 97 318ti. I found a bunch of detached wires. I am referring to the smaller bundle (lower right when looking at the back of the radio). The connector has 10 pins. The bundle of wires in the sheath only 9. Let's just say that 4-1/2 were actually attached. Please view the pictures and tell me what goes where? Thanks.

Try this DIY from Pelican Parts. I replaced my radio with an Alpine unit, and IIRC there was a cable adapter that simplified all the connections.

That little thing in the bottom right is the end of the cable that would go to the factory cd changer. Was the big black plastic factory connector cut off the end of your wiring harness?

PHL: Thanks for the link.

Bullmand: The center console is basically a mess, the cd changer actually worked (before I discovered the shoddy connection...) I cut the small connector intending to clean it up. The large, 16-pin connector looks fine. I've been trying to figure out why I sometimes get FM, and sometimes don't. If that issue points to the head unit, then I guess that's the first step.

Mallard: Is the chassis number the same as the VIN?
VIN: WBACG8326VAU39089
if not, I'll get it to you soon.

Thanks all

If you're having reception problems check the end of the antenna cable. The little pin in the middle of the connector likes to come unsoldered from the actual antenna wire. You can pop the plastic backing off and check to see if everything is still connected.
