How hard is to remove engine with transmission??? And how hard is to install M50 with trany back in ??? 92' 318is Any help would be gladly appreciated.
I think you need swap the diff too, the ecu, radiator... i know that many people remove the front of the car to change the engine(bumper cover, bumper, headlamps etc.)
I think hard depends on your skill level, and what tools you have access to. Without a cherry picker it will be very hard. If you have never done it before it will probably be hard.
Now if you are a mechanic who is familiar with removing an engine and transmission from a car, and putting it back in, it will probably not be hard, just labor intensive. I'm fairly comfortable doing just about anything on a car except for things that require special tools that I don't have. I wouldn't remove an engine/tranny in my garage because I don't have the right tools to do it.
with the engine hoist, you can remove the engine and transmission together, all you need to remove is the hood. Make sure you have a leveler to use with the hoist, otherwise tipping the engine to get it to clear with the transmission attached could be tricky.
Thanks for info, I do have all tools needed and some mechanical skills. I will be doing m50 conversion soon and I will be posting pictures as I go along. My only concern is A/C lines, will lines from m42 fit m50?? Any info on m50 swap wold be appreciated.
