Very tempting. That wasn't one of Bossert's cars, was it? Or was his a 332ti? __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 04-22-2008, 02:40 AM | #17 | Member Join Date: Nov 2005 Location: Princeton, NJ Posts: 52 | his was a 332ti. not one of his. i cant imagine having a 3.2 in there, i have more power than i need with my motor. | | | 04-22-2008, 02:49 AM | #18 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2007 Location: Rocky Hill, CT Posts: 1,065 | oh man, that price has me drooling right now And look how close we are. Might have to do some working, try to convince my dad to let me buy a second car, making 6 for 3 drivers in the house Do you consider it reliable enough to be a daily driver? I would obviously fix the mechanical problems listed before considering a long drive. Keep in mind i'm younger kid, and can definitely take a rough ride. I'll be going to college up in Connecticut, and my 30yr old truck, though an AWESOME ride, doesn't look like it's going to be practical. 33" tires+4cyl+off road gears= bad highway mileage. Any estimate on mileage, somewhere around 20+? Shoot, I was strongly considering the stock one Jperfect is selling, this one is just so much more fun Edit: just talked to both the parents and showed them. Neither shot it down. I want it BAD. If I convince my parents, I can be there this weekend with the 3k CASH. Would need to drive it home to Manasquan, exit 98, about an hour away, so i'd need the electric fan working. Gonna try to talk to them again tomorrow and see where I get thanks chris | | | 04-22-2008, 06:16 AM | #19 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: Boston, MA Posts: 1,152 | Okay Dan, I will talk to Claire this week about another track ti. I will tell her that you are buying it for me! Problem solved so let's go get this ti this weekend. Keeping up with an E46 M3 is not easy even with a 3.2 motor in there. | | | 04-22-2008, 02:45 PM | #20 | Member Join Date: Nov 2005 Location: Princeton, NJ Posts: 52 | budget 76: it was my daily for the past year and a half. the only things that will need to be fixed in order for it to be reliable enough to use daily is the window regulator, the cooling issues (which i really think are the thermostat, yet even with this thermostat, I still was able to drive it 30 minutes to work. the fan can be installed without too much problem, and i would be happy to help do it. it is a blast to drive, and if it will be your daily, i also have that alpine system with a double 10" box in the trunk that could be available. in order for it to pass inspection the horn and parking brake need to be fixed. i would imagine the O2 sensor prob also needs replacing. it is a great car and a steal at this price. as you can see from all the problems i pointed out, i am trying to be honest and not trying to take advantage of anyone. i will start it up tonight and try and take some pics of the damage to the hood and passenger side. gets around 22-24 mpg on the highway and 18 around town, depending on how aggressive you are driving it. this car attracts cops though, it is red, loud, low, and fast. just be aware of that. pm me your phone numberif you want to chat further about it. | | | 04-22-2008, 03:24 PM | #21 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2007 Location: Rocky Hill, CT Posts: 1,065 | Quote: Originally Posted by tctwnd budget 76: it was my daily for the past year and a half. the only things that will need to be fixed in order for it to be reliable enough to use daily is the window regulator, the cooling issues (which i really think are the thermostat, yet even with this thermostat, I still was able to drive it 30 minutes to work. the fan can be installed without too much problem, and i would be happy to help do it. it is a blast to drive, and if it will be your daily, i also have that alpine system with a double 10" box in the trunk that could be available. in order for it to pass inspection the horn and parking brake need to be fixed. i would imagine the O2 sensor prob also needs replacing. it is a great car and a steal at this price. as you can see from all the problems i pointed out, i am trying to be honest and not trying to take advantage of anyone. i will start it up tonight and try and take some pics of the damage to the hood and passenger side. gets around 22-24 mpg on the highway and 18 around town, depending on how aggressive you are driving it. this car attracts cops though, it is red, loud, low, and fast. just be aware of that. pm me your phone numberif you want to chat further about it. | Cool, thanks for the reply. I have no problem throwing in a different t-stat, and the electric fan is easy as well. I had to wire a different button for the horn on my truck, that's easy, and the parking brake probably isn't too bad to do either. I'm pretty mechanically inclined, so is my dad, so we should be good there. I'm can tell you're not trying to hide anything. I'm not looking for a perfect TI, it's not going to be garaged like i'd like it to be. Pics would be good, but they aren't a huge deal breaker to me. Mialage is what I was hoping to hear. I know about the cops, thanks for the heads up. I would definetely have to watch myself, but I can live with that. I'll talk to my parents again tonight, and see how they feel. I'm pretty positive I want to pick it up from you, just have to convince them. I'll PM you my number later. thanks chris | | | 04-22-2008, 03:53 PM | #22 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: 43609 Posts: 3,425 | Very nice package for the price. Just curious as we have been trying to figure out exactly which bars fit the Ti well.. So free bump, and good luck with the sale. | | | 04-23-2008, 03:33 AM | #26 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2007 Location: Rocky Hill, CT Posts: 1,065 | Let me know how it goes, still very interested. Passenger side was a little worse than expected, but nothing some fiberglass and paint can't fix. Should be able to find touch up paint easy I'd think, seems to be a common bmw color. Hood looks like the dents may be able to be ''popped'' out somewhat, and not replaced immediately? The purchase would drain virtually all my funds, so I wouldn't be able to pick one up for about a month. Didn't have a chance to talk to dad tonight, he had to work late. I'm going to leave him a note, and discuss it tomorrow. If he agrees, I'd love to come check it out Sunday. I would come sooner, but I have baseball every day until at least 6, and he doesn't get home until around 8. I'm going to PM you my cell number, and i'll leave a post when to call me, if you can, tomorrow, provided dad has no objections. thanks | | | 04-23-2008, 09:00 PM | #27 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Franklin, NC Posts: 124 | Is it still for sale? Dad said it's a go. I would love to come sunday, can even come sooner, but it'd have to be later at night. Sending you a PM, please call me tonight/let me know on the other pending guy. If needed, I could come tomorrow night. I have a game, but I could come after. VERY SERIOUS posting this on both threads, PM on both sites, LMK. | | | 04-24-2008, 12:34 AM | #29 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2007 Location: Rocky Hill, CT Posts: 1,065 | PM not working here, your inbox is full: Well, dad gave it the OK.
