Default DASC Install Manual Addendum

Here are a few notes I made after my DASC install that may save someone time if they are doing a 1998 install. A key firs item is get the install manual for the correct year. The pre-1997 cars have a different fuel pressure regulator setup than the 97+ cars. I had a 1996 manual and it made a bunch of extra work not to get it right the first time.

1) Relocated the EVAP valve to the original air pump mount. C/O 318ti.org

2) Relocate the PRV valve to near the manifold.
Requires 12" of 5/8 hose. C/O 318ti.org

3) Make bracket to mount the IRV on the bottom of the TB. C/O 318ti.org
Requires a 2 hole strap from Home Depot, a 6mm x 1.0 tap and a short 6 x 8mm allen head cap bolt.

4) Thread the bottom blower mounting hole to accept a 10 x 40mm bolt (Getting to a nut on the back side of the blower while it is in place is nearly impossible)
Requires a 10mm x 1.5 tap and a 10x40 bolt and 10mm washer.

5) My fuel rail had bent steel lines and no factory regulator. I found several photos that showed steel fuel lines working with the DASC manifold and I preferred the steel lines however, my lines did not fit. I had to bend the lines and it did not come out very well. I would recommend using the banjo fittings on both supply and return but that leaves a lot of fuel line on the car.

6) My 1998 car had a bracket on the air pump to mount the EVAP valve. Once that valve was relocated, I cut off the un-needed part of the bracket and this enables the pump to be rotated to a workable orientation on the supplied DASC bracket. I then cut about a 2" piece of the factory hose from the stock air box to use for the air pump filter making it easily accessible for service.

7) Hose clamps. I would recommend getting a bunch of different sized German hose clamps before you start your install. They are far superior to the ones available at the parts store and it also makes future service easier since they will match what is currently on the car.

8) Taps; Harbor freight has a $14.99 kit that has the taps needed #39384 http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=39384

My next step is to temporarily install a fuel pressure gauge taped to the windshield to confirm the fuel pressure reaches 60psi at full boost (6 psi). This is according to DA.

Hope this helps someone here.
