I suspect it would have been good to mention about a week ago... __________________ 1998 318ti Sport - "Cali" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, Cali top 1998 318ti Sport - "Max" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, S52 1997 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior 1995 318ti Active - "Blanca" Alpineweib III/Schwartz leather interior Other Current Bimmers: 2006 530i / 2000 2.3L Z3 / 1997 1.9L Z3 / 1999 540it 1997 318ti Sport - "Huera" - RIP 1995 318ti Active - RIP 1995 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Sold 1994 325i Sedan - "Jade" - Sold 1991 318ic - "Bert" - Sold 1985 635csi sold 1984 533i "Max" Sold 1984 318i sold BMWCCA #160411 SUPPORT 318ti.org! For now this will be fine with the M44 up front. As for today, this picture probably could speak for itself. If not, I had to take a saw to the old engine mount arm to get it out of the car. What a pain. I miss driving this car, but it seems like everything I go to do ends up being more difficult because of rust and frozen bolts. We tried to wiggle in the new engine mounts tonight before calling it quits, but it appears the Condor solid mounts are a good deal taller than stock. Need to call them and see what's going on there, it doesn't seem to fit. | | | 03-24-2016, 01:21 PM | #229 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: Los Angeles, CA Posts: 1,464 | Quote: Originally Posted by Bwwaaaa We tried to wiggle in the new engine mounts tonight before calling it quits, but it appears the Condor solid mounts are a good deal taller than stock. IIRC, a new stock/factory mount is approximately 5.5" from stud tip to tip. __________________ 1995 318ti Base - Cosmosschwarz/Sandgrau R.I.P. 1997 318ti Active - Alpinweiß III/Sandgrau 2013 328i Coupe - Le Mans Blau | | | 03-24-2016, 10:26 PM | #230 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2009 Location: Orange County, CA Posts: 2,019 | well not "today" but sunday i swapped my sunroof assembly since the old one broke and wasn't closing.. big pain in the a$$. only problem I have is the shuttle cover doesn't close by itself now.. oh well. __________________ V2 in progress. Sure enough, I was sent a m50/s50 kit by mistake. They're overnighting me the new mounts, and hopefully I'll be able to get the car back on the ground by Monday. It's the last thing left to do. | | | 03-26-2016, 07:29 PM | #233 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: Los Angeles, CA Posts: 1,464 | Oil change! __________________ 1995 318ti Base - Cosmosschwarz/Sandgrau R.I.P. 1997 318ti Active - Alpinweiß III/Sandgrau 2013 328i Coupe - Le Mans Blau | | | 04-03-2016, 08:22 PM | #234 | Member Join Date: Aug 2015 Location: Arizona Posts: 99 | So the long and short of it, is the car is back on the ground in one piece. Drive a million times better than it did before I started all this work, but there are still some bugs to work out. I took the time to put my interior back in though. Decided to put some sound deadening in the trunk to help cut out muffler noise. I put a Magnaflow 14235 based on the a thread I read here. It's not bad, but certainly a little louder than I was hoping for. Plus my solid mounts make the trunk rattle fairly aggressively, so this also helped. I picked up some Euro tail lights locally. Threw those on, and they make a world of difference. I was originally on the fence about clear turn signals, but this looks awesome. Before and after in one shot here. Really tough to tell in these photos, but here's a before and after on my new headlights. Picked up a set of DEPO glass headlights for $80. I'll take better pictures later. Still trying to sort out a few bugs on the car, and desperately need an alignment. I also bought another ti! Kind of... I picked up a shell with a full black interior to swap into this car. Can't pick it up for a couple of weeks, but I'll post photos when I do. Not sure what the fate of the shell will be, but it's nice enough to figure out how to get it on the road again someday. | | | 04-03-2016, 10:32 PM | #235 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2012 Location: Sacramento, CA Posts: 2,451 | Uh oh... The shell in question has a shaved bay and some other goodies that I can't transfer to my car, so I may plop in my M44 when I got to do the S52 swap on my car later this year. For now though, I really just want the interior out of it | | | 04-08-2016, 06:48 PM | #240 | Member Join Date: Aug 2015 Location: Arizona Posts: 99 | It rained last night, so I get to continue being lazy and not wash my car. Drove it to work today, really considering getting rid of the solid engine mounts with the m44. Too much vibration to really be enjoyable. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
