Default need a new tranny

i'm looking to get a zf from a 328 because the guy at the yard doesn't know any difference. BUT if i do get one then what exactly do i have to change out? or look for

if not then how can i know that im getting the right original one. i saw one that said getrag but what other markings am i looking for? pics please?

and should i look for an e30 tranny that might fit, because the 1st gear things sucks balls on e36 trannys

I'm pretty sure it will fit, and be an improvement durability-wise over the getrag

Default i need to now for sure

because i read in another post (that i can't find) that the zf would need some modifications to it. or some extra parts i don't recall.

anything as far as pics to properly identify the tranny. i saw on the side that it said getrag but that was about it.

Some people use the 328 drive shaft and have it modified. Other people have said that there is a specific drive shaft that fits without modification.. Bluebimma or one of the guys more familiar with engine swaps should know.
