Nice throaty sound, low end rumble It is not overally loud. LOUD. I think a Bosal, Stromburg or B&B is your bet. You need to like a loud exhaust if you get one of those. I know people that have removed them because they were too loud. Everyone has a different opinion. You really need to hear them for yourself. And listen to them on a 4 cylinder. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti 2003 MINI Cooper S 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 07-27-2004, 01:22 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Tucson, AZ Posts: 290 | i looove my stromung. loud on acceleration, however its surprisingly calm cruising. for me it's easy to live with. but still draws attention with some throttle. and it's all stainless, has a nice tip, and was under 500 bucks. before that i had an ansa, if i were you, dont go there. i had a couple posts about it here. i liked it at first, but after a few months a weld broke and i didnt bother having it fixed. i have honestly never heard a supersprint, but i have only read good things about them. in conclusion, for my money, it's the stromung. __________________ Vince Carknard 1995 318ti Active Hellrot, 16" 5 spoke, "Fogged" airbox mod, Stromung exhaust, Bilstein Sports, BMW sport springs, 3.73lsd, others... | | | 07-27-2004, 07:55 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Littleton, CO Posts: 190 | SuperSprint all the way - I love mine. Going from having no muffler at all to having one is a big difference. The SS is much quieter than I expected...I couldn't even tell that the car was running when I first started it up. Not loud enough...so I removed the catalytic converter and replaced it with a regular pipe. Made it slightly louder and a bit less restricted. Still very quiet, however. I can feel a bit of a difference between it and the OE exhaust. And there's a real difference between this and not having a muffler at all....no vibration, no raspy sound, sweet chrome rectangular tip. Still, it sounds better than factory...but maybe not $500 worth of better....may have to look into a racing resonator or something...kick it up a notch. | | | 02-04-2005, 07:10 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Manassas, VA Posts: 4,129 | I've had the Stromung on for about 4 months, very happy. Great sound and perfect install, but no performance gains. Quote: Originally Posted by gooten1 Got the Supersprint on yesterday evening. However...a 2.8 or a 3.2 would sound nice. | | | 02-08-2005, 03:13 AM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: Vancouver, B.C. Canada Posts: 465 | I'm using a modified Borla w 2.5" piping. Great sound throughout the whole rpm range. It has a relatively deep (for a 4-banger) growl to it. I had to cut the rear diffuser a bit for the dual tips, but they add to the aggressiveness of the look. __________________ | | | 02-08-2005, 07:26 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2004 Location: cali Posts: 338 | the supersprint needs a while to wear in at least mine did. Now i have borla and its a well done cat back. My supersprint rusted through on the flange. __________________ Clean E36 | | | 02-25-2005, 11:57 AM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2004 Location: IDAHO Posts: 134 | I got a supersprint and it kicks ass. The first one lasted 6 years. Rusted out on the rear muffler. I think I remember a scratch into the hi-temp paint on the rear muffler when I recieved it. I think this is the spot it rusted at. The second one I installed last summer had some scratches too and touched them up with hi-temp header paint, hopefully this will prevent the premature rusting. I really like the sound of the Supersprint, real throaty and not too loud. Can be fairly loud when you get on it. For my taste, the sound is perfect. Did notice better throttle response around the 3500-4000 rpm range on up. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Thread Tools | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
