But yea a GTI is sweet. I too was looking at a GTI before the Ti but couldn't find one or i proably would be driving one right now. So what year are you looking to get? | | | 02-20-2008, 10:47 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: state college, pa Posts: 3,431 | Quote: Originally Posted by marko should also look into the A3 - same 2.0 turbo motor w/200hp - but much cooler looking IMO. | I've driven the A3 and found it uninspiring. Practical and fully capable, just "loose." More like a Benz, really. __________________ I scream, you scream, we all scream for ZOMBIES. | | | 02-21-2008, 02:28 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: NJ Posts: 1,625 | addition of a few & properly chosen aftermarket parts, makes it a stout - fire breathing monster.. out of the box potential combined with a very sexy body makes the car very, very promising & apealing - much more so than a Gti (IMO). There was also the issue of quattro only available on the 3.2L engine. The real issue for me (aside from driveability) was the cramped interior space. I'm not that tall (5'8") or big (155#) but it felt like the salesman that came for the ride-along was shoulder to shoulder with me the entire time. I'm not saying it's a terrible car by any means, just that I guess I've been terribly spoiled by the ti. __________________ I scream, you scream, we all scream for ZOMBIES. | | | 02-23-2008, 06:34 PM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Florida Posts: 2,525 | I like most German cars, but I really don't care for Volkswagens.. A good friend of mine and his wife both drove them for awhile, and their brand new, under warranty cars had a lot of issues. They would give us crap about BMW reliability, but they got rid of their VW's because of the issues they had, while my family is still driving the same cars we've had since the late 90's. | | | 02-25-2008, 01:09 AM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2005 Location: Quad Cities, Iowa Posts: 2,110 | Do it! Just make sure and get a 1.8t and not a VR6, turbo FTW! Id love to get a GTI but I cant go straight to FWD. __________________ "Drive Fast and Take Chances" | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
