What is a good starting pressure. I used to run my Impreza at like 42 front/46 rear and it seemed to rotate well. __________________ 98 318ti 05 Impreza | | | 07-25-2007, 02:06 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: Scandia, MN Posts: 215 | I am not familiar with those tires, but I'm assuming they're a street tire. Safe bet would be 42-44 front, 40ish in the rear. The rear end will be all over the place anyways, no need to aggregate it by putting more pressure back there. I ran street tires on mine a couple of times ( Dunlop FM 901s) and had the best feel at 42f, 38r. Best of luck! And 38 or so in the rear, hot. Anything more than that, 42 range, and it is noticable that the tire is getting a lot of wear from bulging in the middle and the outside edge has hardly any wear. This is kumho mx's. 46/42 seems way to high to me for a cold pressure. You are not going to get the tires super hot on a short auto-x course, but most tires max out around 50 or 51, so you are pretty close to maxing out. Doing 30 minute DE sessions my pressure goes up 6-8PSI. So cold I start out around 33 in the front and 31/32 in the rear. | | | 06-24-2016, 04:13 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2012 Location: Sacramento, CA Posts: 2,451 | Interesting. I m running my Toyo R1Rs at 36lbsf 35R hot. Would that be too low? What tire temp is considered hot? (I have a reader) I am interested in any good sources to learn more on tire dynamics id anyone knows of a good source for a Newbie to read. Thanks! __________________ 1998 318ti Sport - "Cali" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, Cali top 1998 318ti Sport - "Max" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, S52 1997 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior 1995 318ti Active - "Blanca" Alpineweib III/Schwartz leather interior Other Current Bimmers: 2006 530i / 2000 2.3L Z3 / 1997 1.9L Z3 / 1999 540it 1997 318ti Sport - "Huera" - RIP 1995 318ti Active - RIP 1995 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Sold 1994 325i Sedan - "Jade" - Sold 1991 318ic - "Bert" - Sold 1985 635csi sold 1984 533i "Max" Sold 1984 318i sold BMWCCA #160411 SUPPORT 318ti.org! Suspension adjustments and which tires/wheels I am using as well. I went with lesser tire pressures and ended up with lower lap times and a spin at 34 lbs hot. ( to be fair, I was going a bit faster tho...) I will start again at 32 cold to heat up to 37lbs and work laps there/ 37 front/36 rear. Joe, my outside of the RE-71Rs wore out faster than my insides of the tire. -2.7 degree of camber. Is that what you and TeenTI are experiencing? We are at -4 camber and 1 degree to out on both front wheels and the outsides are definitely wearing faster than the insides. How is the wear on the center strip of the tire? Our is really funky. I have been trying to post pictures of them the site wont let me for some reason. The outside half of the center tread section has already worn down to the wear bars. I am going to have to dismount them to rotate to the other side of the car. Keep me posted on the wear! That being said, I love those tires! They are sticky! | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
