I don't get out until 12:30. The trip should take 4 hours. Half hour into the trip, just as I pass the BMW plant, traffic is stopped. I sit there for at least 30 minutes. Accident. Traffic resumes. Picking up speed. Bam! WTF?? I look over and I have 3" diameter circle of smashed glass. Car will never pass tech and it's just too unsafe to drive on a track with it. I call my wife, she calls Nationwide and I continue to drive. Ended up getting an appointment in Charlotte to have the window replaced. Back on the road. Clean window but my rear view mirror wobbles. I hope the next two days go better. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 06-11-2009, 02:32 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | how did your window get broken? | | | 06-11-2009, 02:52 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Wisconsin Posts: 1,895 | Press on little soldier...press on. __________________ ... ʎɐqǝ uo pɹɐoqʎǝʞ ɐ ʎnq ı ǝɯıʇ ʇsɐן ǝɥʇ sı sıɥʇ | | | 06-11-2009, 10:56 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Quote: Originally Posted by tiFreak how did your window get broken? | Probably a rock or from an overhead structure since I didn't see it coming. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 06-11-2009, 03:18 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Florida Posts: 2,525 | Well, hopefully once you get to the track you have a wonderful time with no issues, and then the little hiccups on the way there will seem like nothing... I now discovered a new problem. My gas pedal has been stiff since I bought the car in 2000. I need to lube it and then adjust it. A buddy looked at it and told me the throttle has been been opening all the way. Quote: Originally Posted by Xenocide give me a shout next time you head to Charlotte, we should meet up. | I'll try. Little F'er got a dozen cars before the cops got him. Thankfully nobody got hurt. Good luck on your next track day.. just look at it this way, maybe something bad would have happened on the track and this was just the world's way of stopping you from going. Sometime Karma is NOT a bitch | Oh, that reminds me. After my first session I check my oil. I'm down a little so I add 3/4 qt. Start the car for my next session. I have a rough idle but it sometimes acts like it's missing from time to time. I think nothing of it. A couple laps and it's taking me a lot longer to stop. Brakes feel fine, plenty of pad. Frsh fluid. Can't figure it out. Between sessions I ask someone to look at my gas pedal. I insist that it's stiff. I try a friend's M Coupe. His is easy to press. We pop open the hood. Hey, you are missing your oil cap! Oh ****! I can't find it. Then someone tells me they found an oil cap at turn 6. Thank goodness the cap didn't cause any damage. I lost very little oil but that explained why my braking distance increased. Next session braking was fine. But back to the throttle cable. It seems that my butterfly is not opening all the way and it can't be adjusted any more. Plus it is stiff. I need to lubricate the cable and see if I can lower the gas pedal stop. I might find some more HP. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 06-14-2009, 01:55 AM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: Raleigh/Charlotte, NC Posts: 1,233 | Steven - I have a throttle cable from my M42 kicking around somewhere, need it? My buddy has it at his house in Charlotte. __________________ -Jeff | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | Similar Threads | Thread | Thread Starter | Forum | Replies | Last Post | Head unit rant | kaustik | Interior and ICE | 20 | 04-19-2009 07:45 AM | FCUK BavAuto! rant | marko | Suspension | 35 | 08-04-2008 03:54 AM | Bimmerforums rant | Mad-Machine | General Chit Chat | 1 | 03-24-2007 05:42 AM | |
