JeroenB3, those pics are very helpful. Exactly what this site needed! Thanks so much for taking the time to show us a decent comparison. I hope the tips fit your 323ti diffuser. Unfortunately my Rogue Engineering tips will not fit my 318ti diffuser so it's going to get hacked pretty soon(both the diffuser and exhaust) chop chop
The only thing you will need to do is lengthen the z3 exhaust a little. Best place it probably after the cat, the bends should match perfectly with the compact.
Here are pics from mine.
left to right, 328i mid section, 316i compact mid section and Z3 2.8 mid section.
I don't have to make it longer, cause I'll use the midsection of the M3. I just take the last part of the Z3 exhaust, after the cat and welt it to the M3 exhaust.
The exhaust fits perfectly in the original rubbers, but you could allready see that on the pictures.
I also tried to fit the Z3 3.0 exhaust with the 323ti diffusor, but it doesn't fit. If you stand behind the Ti, the left tip is on the same position as the 4 cilinder exhaust tip and that is the middle of the 323ti diffusor gap. You have to use the original 4-cilinder diffusor and cut it wider to the right side.
For me it's just a temporary solution, cause I have to go true a soundcheck before I may drive it on the road. After the soundcheck I'll get a custom exhaust with Eisenmann/M3 tips EXACTLY in the middle of the 323ti diffusor gap

I don't remember exactly where the exhaust ended up, but I think it was fairly centred. I have standard bumpers on my car and had to cut it out little on both sides to make the exhaust fit.
Never posted the pics, but here is my exhaust. don't mind the bumper, I just got rearended. Can't see underneath but its an OBD1 M3 midpipe with a Y into a 2.5" catback with a dynamax muffler, sounds awesome. pretty quiet until you hit 4k then it starts to get loud.
