Ok on a 1996 BMW 318ti 1.9 wtf is the firing order? I just got new ngk that are numbered and withouth thinking of making notes I hella just yanked all the other wires off thinking I could figure it out... I heard its 1-3-4-2 but the car dies when I start.. Although it did start in the beginning when I may have had a couple of wires switched and it booged down. Now I believe the car is flooded any tips....? I believe the firing order is 1 3 4 2 even says in the book... But what now | | | 05-02-2012, 04:15 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | I might be wrong but the firing order is handled by the coil on a 1996. On the coil front is number 1 and 2, 3, 4 right in order 4 being back. Same to the cylinders 1 up front and back is 4. The firing order does not matter since the soild state coil makes the firing order changes for you. Match a wire to front coil and #1 spark plug and work you way back. I think. | | | 05-02-2012, 04:18 AM | #3 | Junior Member Join Date: Apr 2012 Location: American Canyon Posts: 12 | Quote: Originally Posted by xxxJohnBoyxxx I might be wrong but the firing order is handled by the coil on a 1996. I just looked at my car. They go in order coil front to #1 spark and work your way back, #4 is the back on the coil. You still have an issue. You need 150 miles of it running right to pass most emission test. | | | 05-02-2012, 04:27 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2011 Location: Broomfield,Colorado Posts: 664 | johnboy you beat me to it i just went and looked on mine also and it too is in order 1 in front and 4 in the back side | | | 05-02-2012, 04:28 AM | #6 | Junior Member Join Date: Apr 2012 Location: American Canyon Posts: 12 | Ok I'll get that done...yeah so I'm guessing a couple weeks would do... But still what can I do about the flooding? I pulled the plugs and whipped them on the nearest cloth next to me n it smells straight up like fuel... Also on the tip of the plugs the little white below the electrode had some black stuff on it I just whipped off best I could. Should I use a certain spray? | | | 05-02-2012, 04:39 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Correct the firing order. Replace the plugs. If you don't replace the plugs after you correct the firing order don't come back bitching it still won't run right. I suggest cheap Autolit #3923 for a stock M44 and #3922 for boost applications. Correct firing order, replace plugs. Drive 150 miles and pass emissions. | | | 05-02-2012, 04:42 AM | #8 | Junior Member Join Date: Apr 2012 Location: American Canyon Posts: 12 | Quote: Originally Posted by xxxJohnBoyxxx Correct the firing order.
