Default quick connect adapters

does the 318ti (1998) use special air conditioning quick connect adapters? I bought a kit from the local parts house that had a low side connector and it didn't fit. I bought a high side/ low side kit online and the low side connector fits perfect but the high side connector doesn't fit. It appears to be the right diameter but it isn't deep enough to lock down into the groove.
