Default idle problem, please help

these last days the car started to act kinda weird. when i start the car everything is fine, then when i rev it up to like 3000-4000 rpm and let the rpm go down. the rpm usually would stop at about 800-900. these days it, after i rev it up the rpm drops down to like 400, and it feels like the car is stalling, the feel of like the car is not gettin enough gas. then the rpm would go back to normal about 800. this same thing happens when im driving down the road. i stop for the light and rpm would go down to like 300-400 and the car would feel like stalling and rpm would get back up to its normal place 800-900. then when i push on the gas to accelerate everything is fine.
i was thinking about a dirty fuel filter. i just wanted to know what u guys think about this.
if its the fuel filter is it possible for me to change it with a jack and regular tools.

Have you checked all the seals on your intake? This sort of thing happened with my last car and it was because there was a gap in part of the intake seal. Also you might want to check your timing? or something with the idle'ing stuff? (sorry don't know the proper terms)

you can easily change the fuel filter yourself. these are replaced during inspection II, so if you've had that done recently i would rule it out temporarily. if not, it's a pretty simple process.

you need allen keys, small sockets and hose pinchers (i found some for $3 at autozone). do you have a bentley/haynes manual?

also, i hope you're using jack stands too and not just the jack.

stands are anywhere between $10-20. all you need are 2T suckers (any higher and it's hard to get them under the car). you can use the factory jack to get the car up on them.

it's pretty easy. just keep a bucket handy and you'll probably want to wear vinyl gloves the first time.

Cleaning the ICV with some Carb cleaner wouldn't hurt.

I don't think it is a vacume leak you will hve iradic idling vs just not be able to idle like you described.

I agree. It's almost certainly your idle control valve. I had the same symptoms and removed it to clean with some carb cleaner. Problem never came back.

There is a high possibility that your Cam Position Sensor is going south. The symptoms you are having are very similiar to a bad CPS.
