Im preparing the TI for an M52 swap as well as selling off my M44 crap. Is there anything like sensors, hoses, or accessories that i should keep from the M44? The M52 is going to come complete with the dme, harness, cluster, and all sensors. Since its coming from a junkyard, they want 75$ per accessory that i need (I.E. alternator, power steering pump, starter). Everything comes with a year warranty on it, but i thought i would see what i could salvage from the M44 assembly to use on the M52. From what i can see, based on realoem part numbers and descriptions, i can keep my starter and slave cylinder. Both engines use a twin mass flywheel setup, but the clutch assembly is bigger for the M52....215mm for the M44, 240mm for the M52. Will the clutch assembly from the M52 fit on a TI flywheel or should i just get the flywheel and clutch assembly with the engine? __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 07-11-2007, 04:14 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Saint Paul, MN Posts: 3,244 | Sorry I don't have an official answer to your questions but I am looking for an M44 catalytic converter with pipe. How many miles and have you had any CEL's from it? Any other drivetrain goodies you wish to sell? If you keep your transmission you get to keep your driveshaft, diff, etc. I know when Brett Anderson did the first S52 swap into a ti they kept the stock tranny, driveshaft and LSD. It still was going fine many years later. PM sent on details of your swap purchase. __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | 07-11-2007, 04:17 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: 43609 Posts: 3,425 | Yea, im keeping the tranny-back, and then upgrading to a 3.46LSD when i find one. I havent had any problems with my exhaust as far as i know. Since im getting the M52, i dont think i need any of my exhaust which seems to be in pretty good condition. I also have a SuperSprint catback that i wont need anymore. __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 07-11-2007, 05:25 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Melbourne, Fl/Athens, AL Posts: 393 | I can't type fast enough to say that I want your supersprint. How much do you think you're going to want for it? __________________ -Kenny | | | 07-11-2007, 05:34 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: 43609 Posts: 3,425 | Lol, not sure yet. Ill be at my moms house to start pricing everything out and getting pictures. __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 07-11-2007, 07:04 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Melbourne, Fl/Athens, AL Posts: 393 | Yeah, a quote shipped down to Florida (33713) would be great. I assume it's the single oval tip? I went on BMP the other day, and it looks like it's not even made anymore. __________________ -Kenny | | | 07-11-2007, 07:11 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: 43609 Posts: 3,425 | Its the one with the squared oval tip. __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 07-11-2007, 07:16 PM | #8 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Hey Tony, You might want to pick up a new clutch and flywheel. It's never a good idea to buy a used one, and it's a perfect time to upgrade. __________________ 4 MORE YEARS BABY!!! | | | 07-11-2007, 07:20 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: 43609 Posts: 3,425 | Jess, I want to buy a new clutch for sure, just didnt know if i should go with a lightweight flywheel for the 328 with a new clutch, or just an OE 328 clutch with the TI flywheel. __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 07-11-2007, 08:55 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Melbourne, Fl/Athens, AL Posts: 393 | Yep, that's the one I'm looking for.
