Bummer. One of the fog lights fell out and the driver's side window fell off the tracks. Ordered new foglights and made an appointment to get the window fixed.

On the other hand, I'm smiling because the UUC SSK/DSSR setup feels great. Shifter used to feel real sloppy, especially when shifting between 4th and 5th. Now it has a much shorter throw with a real firm feel. The lever requires just fingertip pressure to shift now.

Once I get the window fixed and new foglights installed, I plan to polish my headlight lenses and install the same bulbs I used in my foglights. Thought about HID conversions, but have other stuff to spend my money on, like a door lock actuator, hatch struts, touch-up paint, etc.

Read Cooljess76's window fix thread, it truly will fix your window issues...

On the way to work - hit a drive through for some java...as I'm pulling out, I get a big whiff of antifreeze and my first thought is "hmm, somebody's going to have a crappy day." Ten seconds later I see a wisp of steam coming from under the hood. Crap, it's me. Temp gauge is good and there's an auto parts store 1/2 block away. Radiator upper hose connection snapped off - stupid plastic. Luckily there was enough left to get the hose back on. Had to buy a screwdriver and a gallon of antifreeze.

For full on irony, I ordered a new radiator last night. Today I think I should be ordering a new t-stat, water pump, o-rings, hoses and head fittings. That could have sucked a lot worse.

sold it.
a sad day. kinda gutted but it's not like I don't have another e36 to play with... also I have a feeling I might get the chance to get an LHD 323ti at some point eventualsoon.
Overall though the Compact was a fabulous car and I think it's gonna be a while before I fill the 318ti-shaped hole. No it ain't the most powerful or the fastest but it was (still is) quick, fun and involving. I actually see myself buying an m44 z3 as a toy sometime....

Did you retrofit Cruise control into your car or change the stalk on an existing Cruise control?

If retrofit, I'd like to discuss...

Either way, nice...

It already had cruise control, I just changed the cap on the end of the stalk from English to German. (apparently, you can get that cap in Spanish and Italian as well...)

  • My new key and cylinder lock were slightly binding, so I added some graphite into the lock. I didn't want the tab to break on the new tumbler. Smoother operation now.

  • Got the 3M caulking strips for the foam liner for my door panels. I'll reassemble the doors this weekend. I'll steal a few of the panel standoffs from another E36 door card. Close standoffs will win.

  • Installed a rear cargo net and luggage straps. I like the net to keep stuff from flying around in the boot and the straps just provide a bit of friction to help heavier loads from shifting.

  • Installed a pair of missing jackpads. E39s have an issue where if you leave the jackpads missing it creates an airflow that eventually damages your headliner. Like mine is now. These are to plug up the jackpad holes so when I fix the headliner, it will hopefully stay fixed.

Finished ordering all the parts for a full-on cooling system revamp (radiator connector broke yesterday - had ordered a radiator the day before). Water pump, t-stat, every hose, block connector, blah blah blah. Now everything gets replaced. Also had a case of the while I'm at it - refurbishing the power steering while access will be good. Hopefully it all holds together while I'm waiting on parts. Last night I glued up the new sunroof access panel to see if I like a red headliner.

Good idea. The M44 Z3 and the ti are fraternal twins.
