Things are just made better in Germany
I would have made this my original post, but I make it a point not to listen to this unless I am on a great road.
I see that they finally decided to re-record this and make it shorter. This song took up all of side one on the original album in '74. Clocked in at around 20 minutes, maybe a little more. A fitting road song but back when I was doing the cross country living in a van thing years ago I preferred Kraftwerk's Trans Europe Express, it just seemed to go along with the size of what I was driving at the time. And no, I did not own the album in '74, I had the cassette in the mid '80's...

Also nice for the road is their track from 84 called Tour de France. It was done for the race since at least half of Kraftwerk was really into cycling. But if you can find a copy of that I think you will agree that it makes for a good driving song too.

Ahhhh yes, Parliament/Funkadelic!!!! Two groups that I wanted to see so bad back then but I was too young and my sister ratted me out to my dad when she overheard my older friends plotting to sneak me into the coliseum. They put on some legendary shows and that music is still great listening today! George Clinton was indeed the man back then. Would have loved to have been there when they were doing acid trips off the coast of Florida looking for UFO's!

Get him into a few clubs around Europe, especially Ibiza, and he will come back talking about how great techno is. But if you really are going to go clubbing in Ibiza, have lots of money.

Well now let me see I got a couple.

Motorin - Night Ranger (80's)
Shut up and Drive (Taylor Swift)
Black Betty - Ram a lam
Soundtrack to dukes of hazzard (the movie)

There are so many more

Actually I am jamming to Queen and my James Bond soundtrack right now (BMW's in all the Brosan movies hate the Jag)

I still have the album (in vinyl), along with 12" vinyl singles of Tour de France and others (I can't recall now, they are in storage).

"Runnin Down A Dream" - Tom Petty
"Night Drive" - All American Rejects
"My Name Is Jonas" - Weezer

there are some more, but I just can't think of them right from the top of my head atm.

just to name a few that I think are good driving songs imo.

Ms. Hynde has never lost her impact... I play 30 y.o. Pretenders songs for "kids" and they are blown away... She will always have a little corner in my heart.
