PICTURES I posted this on bf.c earlier today.... So I get in my car the other day and when I leaned back, I noticed the seat back felt funny. It had a "twist" to it, and the top right (right shoulder) felt like it was more loose than the right. Today I took it apart and discovered the metal joint just plain snapped. WTF. I guess I'm gonna try to weld it back together. I'll post some pics after I weld. I took the seat apart and removed all the padding material. I welded the seat back together (have to be careful, that is really thin metal). I also attached some Strap that I had cut down and welded that in there to to re-enforce the back. Then put the seat back together __________________ Custom Cold Air Intake, Custom IAT controller, SuperSprint Exhaust, High Flow CAT, Long Tube Header, H&R 'Race' Lowering springs, Short Shifter, JB Racing Lightweight Flywheel, M3 Clutch Kit w/Rogue Semi-Metalic Disk, Zex Nitrous System, Euro Clear Corners, Elipsoid Headlights w/Halos, Eyebrows, Window Tinting, Invisible Bra | | | 02-15-2006, 01:33 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Minneapolis Posts: 1,587 | ^ I just don't get it, I weigh less than 160lbs., and I haven't been rough on it at all. | | | 02-15-2006, 01:35 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Minneapolis Posts: 1,587 | Quote: Originally Posted by 318tibimmer I had that same thing happen to me. A reinforcement would be a good idea too. | | | 02-15-2006, 02:47 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Manassas, VA Posts: 4,129 | Reverse the words and you get "Broke Back Seat". My driver's seat felt like it had a rocking motion in the seat back. A few weeks ago, I took the seat out and found a small weld break in the main frame. A small screw took care of the split weld, but only partially resolved the rocking... So today, I took the seat out and completely disassembled the back to discover 3 broken welds and a cracked corner... Notice the lower right corner has split completely... and how the whole thing is tweaked; Some one had a "Great Time" in this seat before me! So I broke out the welder and went to town re-welding all four spots. Seat reassembled, re-installed, and tested. Feels solid and secure now...!!! __________________ James 95 active w/leather interior and sport interior conversion, Vaders, full M-Tech exterior conversion.
