(170,000+ miles). With all the swaps going on (Auto > Manual) someone is bound to have a low mileage auto tranny setting around. If not? Clue me up on a reputable salvage yard. Any technical insight and/or 318ti guru-ism is appreciated. I just wouldn't ship it for damage and weight. BTW I'm going ahead with the deal with Ed- sending off a fat check tomorrow. The salvage car had too many unknowns. __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | 07-13-2006, 12:14 AM | #5 | Junior Member Join Date: Sep 2005 Location: West Kentucky Posts: 18 | The woods of Western Kentucky. 2 hours NW of Nashville. 3.5 hours SE of St. Louis. I'm ASC+T. Not to mention ADD...oh look, something shiney! Thanks. | | | 07-13-2006, 03:46 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Saint Paul, MN Posts: 3,244 | Well ASC+T works through your cars 4 channel ABS brake system to slow down wheels as they slip. AFAIK it's not part of the drivetrain so to speak and should not affect tranny choice. Verify that with an expert though please. I'd start searching locally really- if you can't find a decent used tranny down there I have a contact in Memphis and SC for you. Those suckers are not easy to ship though. __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | 07-13-2006, 04:34 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: Richmond Hill, GA Posts: 1,231 | I am also looking for a tranny and so far I had no luck. I looked it up and it seems that it might fit but I don't want to chance it. anyone else have anny more experience in this subject | | | 07-13-2006, 04:48 AM | #9 | Junior Member Join Date: Oct 2005 Location: Kentucky Posts: 8 | Ridgerunner, Just read your post. I have an auto out of my 99 ti with 89K on it. The car was my sister's until she killed it. I'd need to get it out of the car still, but I'm in Bowling Green on the weekends and could get it that far. Let me know if you are interested (PM me if you'd like). I've caught wind of a tranny in Bowling Green thanks to JohnA. That's not too far upstate. If it fizzles, I'll gladly try your hookups in Memphis. Not too worried about freight. I'm here is PICK-UP TRUCK COUNTRY and everybody's got one in the driveway (with 2 or 3 old 'uns out behind the barn) so, if need be, I'll just air-up the tires and head to Memphis. Anybody feel good about which Auto Trannys can bolt-up? | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
