we are not exactly a bunch of racers here... but I will say this, suspended on Bilstein PSS9 coilovers, wearing sticky rubber,and poly bushings all around.. I can out corner an E39 M5.. however, as soon as the road went straight, he left me for dead.. but at least I got to hear that wonderful exhaust tone.

M5 owners do NOT like to be passed on the outside lane of a cloverleaf.. especially by an older 3 series hatchback

The M44 isn't exactly a performance engine in my book. I don't even bother to race anything because it's not a fast car, but it doesn't bother me. Everybody tells me it looks awesome, I get 36mpg, and I really haven't had any huge repairs due, although I'm about to rebuild my diff because of a noisy pinion bearing.

it can be made to breathe and make power similar to the original s14.. I remember reading (but cannot quote) a BMW engineer saying the M42 actually breathed better than the s14..

I think if lightened, balanced, and given a proper amount of fuel and spark, it could come to life.. but gods only know if it would be legal to drive on the street after that.

so no.. stock, the ti is no street light grandprix racers.. which is fine with me

I'm in a 318 coupe. I beat Honda's with boost plus N2O, new Vettes, Mustangs, 350Z's, WRX STI's (light mods), etc, etc.

I'm 318 badged since I still run the M42 block with a M44 head with lots of boost

The M4x can be a beast if you pound some air in it with a turbo

i always race my co-worker in his 300zx bi-turbo. he always beats me on the highway, but when we are on the back roads leaving work i own his a$$!
