either side of the head unit u'll find 2 very small and very discreate little flaps of plastic..lift em up and use a small hex key to undo the nuts...as u do it'll push the head unit out so DONT force it!! If u cant find em let me know i'll post a pic but just have a good look!!

I installed a Pioneer as well and had no problem. Did you buy a wiring harness or cut the wires manually?

is it a new radio... if so take it back to where you bought it... most places that sell audio will have a test rig....

if its used try it in another car... the amp could be blown.....

Yeah, like here: http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthrea...110#post101110

and lots more. Make sure your head-unit is powering the "electric antenna" even when playing the CD, otherwise your car's stock amp won't energize.

what i did was removed the vent on top and pulled the wires up to get clearance.... this is in a coupe tho and its different....

in a compact...i think you can take the glovebox out and pull the wires down and push the radio in.....

this brings up a question.. what's behind the plastic at the bottom of the console? There is that big open area that is recessed, it sits between the temp dials and the cig lighter.. what's behind that?
