I would spend so much to try to make a Base or Active look like a Sport, and I might not be able to even find a millpoint interior in decent condition. | | | 02-03-2008, 04:32 AM | #18 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: norcal - 94590 Posts: 3,186 | I do understand that you have specific things you want... I guess I was trying to point out that you shouldn't necessarily jump at one too soon, with out really searching for what's out there... Traveling for the right car may be worth it for you, considering how much you can save if it's for the right car... just some thoughts... Good luck finding the ti that's right for you! | | | 02-03-2008, 04:47 AM | #19 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | Quote: Originally Posted by btonns realistically, the engine won't last much longer. | that's not true, there are ti's out there with over 200k on them that still run strong if they're taken care of well enough | | | 02-03-2008, 05:10 PM | #20 | Member Join Date: Dec 2006 Location: Cincinnati, OH Posts: 47 | How much longer do you think the engine might last? | | | 02-03-2008, 05:31 PM | #21 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | you can get these motors to last up to the 300 range __________________ -Josh Sold-1995 318ti, Club Sport, Hellrot Sold-1996 318ti, Active Model, Boston Green Current- 1995 318ti, sport model, schwartz | | | 02-03-2008, 06:00 PM | #22 | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Lancaster, CA Posts: 15 | Yeah, it all depends on how well it was maintained. You'd get a better idea if you saw his records. Even still, there's always the possibility of rebuilding the engine with new piston rings and cleaning up the top end and it will be close to good as new again. | | | 02-03-2008, 06:11 PM | #23 | Member Join Date: Dec 2006 Location: Cincinnati, OH Posts: 47 | Even if the engine was re-built, I just wonder how many miles until all the suspension, steering, and drive train components wear out and have to be replaced. | | | 02-03-2008, 06:44 PM | #24 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | well its good to go through all the suspension components after that many miles. so if you end up doing all new suspension thats gonna be another big added cost! __________________ -Josh Sold-1995 318ti, Club Sport, Hellrot Sold-1996 318ti, Active Model, Boston Green Current- 1995 318ti, sport model, schwartz | | | 02-04-2008, 03:24 AM | #25 | Member Join Date: Dec 2006 Location: Cincinnati, OH Posts: 47 | Is $7-8k even too much for this ti? | | | 02-04-2008, 04:55 AM | #26 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | i would say 7 at most. __________________ -Josh Sold-1995 318ti, Club Sport, Hellrot Sold-1996 318ti, Active Model, Boston Green Current- 1995 318ti, sport model, schwartz | | | 02-04-2008, 07:44 PM | #27 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2005 Location: A few tenths ahead of alaskablue Posts: 265 | I wouldn't offer a shred over 5k for it, I do not care if it is a club sport or not, especially since you want to do a motor swap anyways. The problem with them is that it isn't the fact they are rare, some people just think because it is a bmw people will pay out the arse for them. I hate to say it, but some idiot will pay that much for it. And I am betting the seller knows this. bluebook is usually under 3k for that kind of milage, you'd be better off buying a 95 active with the LSD and then add the m-technik bumpers and essentially, you have a clubsport clone....as some active's in 95 have every single option except the body that makes the clubsport so appealing. However I do think the CS is over priced. __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | 02-14-2008, 08:26 AM | #30 | Junior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: OC Posts: 6 | My '95 Helrot Clubsport sold for $12K in 2004, w/90K miles. It had springs/bilsteins, 17"wheels, AC Snizt spoiler, intake, M3 mirrors - perfect condition. Wish I kept it Anyone seen it in OC or LA,CA? | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 2 (0 members and 2 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | Similar Threads | Thread | Thread Starter | Forum | Replies | Last Post | Exhaust Nuts?
