To protect and to serve my ass! He pulled me over and cited me $106.50 for my tint. That fat ass didn't even give me a warning. Its cops like him that piss me off. So not only do I have to pay, but I have to remove ALL my tint. He said it was because my ti is registered as a coupe. The suv's and trucks are allowed tint, but not coupes and sedans. What a PRICK!!! __________________ | | | 08-03-2006, 06:09 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: PA Posts: 822 | | | | 08-03-2006, 07:32 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2005 Location: PA Posts: 1,906 | Very interesting. Is all that information valid and up to date? The kind officer told me it is illegal to have any tint lower than 70%. He metered it at 17%. That site says its ok to have tint so long as you can see in and out of the car. With all my windows up you can still see how many are in the car and whatnot. What is the deal? I haven't taken it off yet, and i don't want to. Should I just eat the $106.50 or should I try to fight it? This is eating me up inside.... __________________ | | | 08-03-2006, 07:35 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: PA Posts: 822 | I'm not sure what to tell you to do. It seems like a waste to fight it and take to court. I know whith my 20% tint you can see in and out of my car. | | | 08-03-2006, 07:42 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2005 Location: PA Posts: 1,906 | Your absolutely right! I just hate the fact that I gotta take all my tint off. I spent alot of time doing it and it came out pretty damn good. I just talked to my cousin, who is a state trooper. He said he will get back to me tomarrow (he's currently driving home from Ocean City, Md). He said he didn't know the law off hand but said he would look into it. __________________ | | | 08-03-2006, 07:51 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: Cincinnati Posts: 890 | I think it depends on the State rules. Ohio for example is 30% windshield and 50% other. __________________ SOLD!!! 1999 332ti //M Sport Titanium Silver M3 S52 3.2 I-6 Engine, M3 Clutch w/ ti Getrag Trans, Z3 3.15 LSD medium case diff and half shafts, OEM Hatch Spoiler, Eurosport HP Underdrive Pulleys, FDM, 17" DS1 rims, M3 Front Struts & Springs, M3 Instrument Cluster, 3-spoke //M steering wheel with tri-color stitching, SSK, CCFL Angels in Depo projectors with 5k HIDs | | | 08-03-2006, 07:51 PM | #7 | doesn't care about you. Cops hate tint because they can't see in side of the car, so if you have a weapon, they don't know until it's too late. Ask your cousin to sign off on the equipment violation. Any cop can sign off on it, and then send it in. Pay the fine, and hope that the same cop doesn't bust you again for it. If he does, you HAVE to cover for your cousin and say that you had the windows re-tinted after you had it inspected. This is exactly what I do when I get equipment violation. I usually take my cop friend out for a steak dinner and some drinks, then ask her to sign it. Works everytime. __________________ '99 Dinan M3 | | | 08-03-2006, 08:18 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2005 Location: PA Posts: 1,906 | Quote: Originally Posted by DustenT I've been pulled over for tint before. This is what 175.67 (D-4) states A sun screening device or other material which does not permit a person to see or view the inside of the vehicle is prohibited, unless otherwise permitted by FMVSS No. 205, or a certificate of exemption has been issued in compliance with § 175.265 (relating to exemption provisions). See Table X for specific requirements for vehicles subject to this subchapter. Passenger car requirements relating to the rear window are delineated by vehicle model year in Table X. I feel like going right now and asking the cop that pulled me over to show me where I broke the law. The cop station is right down the street. __________________ | | | 08-03-2006, 08:29 PM | #9 | doesn't care about you. It's because HE couldn't see inside, not because YOU can't see out. They need to be able to SEE INSIDE your car. __________________ '99 Dinan M3 | | | 08-03-2006, 08:20 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: Berlin, Germany Posts: 258 | While you're at it, fix your damn driveway. __________________ | | | 08-03-2006, 07:50 PM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2005 Location: PA Posts: 1,906 | Maybe this is silly question but oh well....
