Default Header?!?!?!?!

Just wonderin if anybody knows of headers made for our cars/whose selling
them, or possibly using the 6cyl header? Im confused on the subject, and
really wanna put on a header, or customize and install one if possible-

-Ps I did search the forums and found some info on cutting/welding the 6cyl, but I knew those were done for the turbo setups-lemme know, thanks alot!!!!

well the 6 cylinder headers will not work. the Ti headers are not that bad at all. I purchased a set of supersprint headers and I compared them to the ebay headers. they are almost exactly the same. I did not notice any performance improvement. they just look pretty!

hey, but see my problem's that I cant even find ebay headers lol, as bad as
I dont want ebay headers, I would settle for those if they even had them...
Im doing the exhaust tomorrow, straight pipe from the header back to
the muffler, but it would be nice to get a header on there also...Lemme know,
and thanks brotha....

Have you even bothered to look at the stock exhaust? It's got a damn nice header from the factory.

Prepare to have a check engine light if you plan on a straight pipe.

This is a nice thread about straight pipes and exhaust.

looks like those are not sold any more. I just searched myself and no results. like I said the Ti stock headers are good. I would just stick with those.

BMW makes an excellent header. It's already on your car. It is tube pipe and run from a 4-pipe to 2 collector. There is not much room for improvement unless you are running a highly modified engine and need 3" exhaust.

You will look torque and be sorry. This is from someone who knows. Please use your OEM header and run your pipe to your muffler removing as many bends as possible. Be aware that it will be loud without resinators and illegial without a cat unless it's a off road application.

I guess thats what ill have to do then, ill just run the oem manifold, with
the straight pipe to muffler, even with the bung welded in place like an inch above you think the light would still come on? and if the light comes on do bmw's go into any type of safe mode?----thanks again everybody btw......

sounds like you've already made up your mind anyway, but if you look at the pic in this ad you can see what a good header you have already

Post cat bung needs a fooler on it. Just put a spark plug anti-fouler on it and screw the O2 into that getting the O2 out of direct exhaust stream and it will trick it into thinking the cat is in place and working...

No limp mode for CEL on cat error but why have it when you can fool it so easy

Yea, thats what I said... After seeing the pic of the oem exhaust manifold, I will keep that and run a straight pipe from the header back to the muffler with minimal bends... My only other concern/question was if I decide to remove my cat & resonator (which is internally breaking apart) and weld in a O2 bung, if the engine light would still come on. It is only a sniffer.... But I guess ill find out tomorrow. i think in this process im going to replace the exh manif gasket at the same time of installation. Thanks again for the help errr body!!!

You will NOT like how loud that cat gets when gutted. Without the guts it's a resonance chamber. It's ****ING LOUD! Like super ricer loud even with the stock muffler. I knocked mine out while doing troubleshooting. Not to mention that I ruined a $1300 perfectly good cat. I'd be happy to sell mine if you want it.

Cut the cat out and save it. It's a expensive peice. Put a resinator in there. I run 2 resonators 3" but I'm turbo. It's a striaght though pipe with little to no restriction louvered/packed and calms the exhaust. It's like a straight through but calms the exhaust by 1/3 at most and bangs the exhaust wave against each other so it sounds cool. So again I run 2 resonator and a flowmaster 2 chamber on 3" exhaust, It's quiet when I cruise but when I hit it is sounds like a pack of mad bees. If you run smaller exhaust like 2.5" or below then run 1 resonator and a sport muffler your car will be tits I'm saying people will look and not look like what the "f" is that peice of "s". They will be like "Holy Crap, that sounds bad"

well im gonna keep the old cat, I just passed emissions,so im gonna still remove it, but ill see how i like it, and go from there, cause if I dont like it, ill just do something else... I still havent decided between boosting the 4cyl or swapping the motor- so many diff choices, but soon ill decide and plan for an over the winter "change"... and john thanks for the offer, once I get the cat out im gonna check and see if it was the cat that was breaking up internally or if it was just a ballast in the muffler......well see..... thanks again fellas!!!!
