thats like the worst saying you could say at this time.

He is telling straight out its his friend!! not, someone from las vegas saw the car and wants too.

Do this, trade, sell the m3, buy another TI, the extra money, buy a supercharger, ull be faster than the m3.

It doesn't need park distance control, and hates decadence. It is musclepacked, yet lightly wound. It lets you feel the asphalt and get you going with the smallest touch of the pedal. It provokes, seduces, and demands to be driven hard. It looks, sounds, and smells like performance.

1. Why does he want to trade? It's entirely possible that it's an even trade, maybe not monetary value alone but for some other reason that makes it even.

2. Make sure you look at insurance rates.

Hey Hugo,
dude, it's so hard finding another GOOD 318ti...
Ask me how I know...
anyways,
This reminds me of that thread I made "318ti or E36 M3..."
I honestly think that it would be a good trade...
BUT, if you want another 318ti, it's hard to find the right one, especially if you want another Clubsport.

If I were you, I would just keep the 318ti because of its rarity...
but that's me...
Good luck on your decision man!
I saw a 318ti clubsport for sale on autotrader for $10,000 (I think)
You should buy that and trade that one haha...

i wouldnt care about clubsports, actives, etc. Aslong its a ti. like i said, trade, sell the m3, find another ti and supercharge it. Hes right about insurance, member what you told me, you crashed ur m3 and ur insurance didnt cover it. So S/C a new TI, itll be faster than m3, and cheaper insurance.

If that's the case for you M3outtanowhere (if you were to get another 318ti later on), I'd do it...

You were right! his car may have only had 80k miles and a 1996...but it was crap. The rear seats were hard as a rock. The transmission was speed shifted its whole life. And there was a rust patch in the rear passenger fender well. Ran great but was ugly inside. Wood accents, broken flip out radio (he said was 500 dollars), seats were electric and didnt go down. All in all i would have done an even trade. But he wanted 4 grand on top of the Ti! So, when he told me that; i shook his hand and left.

Then when it was his turn to test my car- I wanted to kill him! He revved it out in 1st gear through 3rd. Speed shifted 4th abd 5th. Then on the decel he dropped 5th into 2nd. It didnt hit the rev-limiter but rose to 6,500 before he hit the clutch. I nicely asked if he would pull over and i drove us back to the meeting spot. The guy was a comp[lete moron. Sorry for this post.

see now ITS A WHOLE DIFFERENT STORY!! you didnt mention the extra money. YOu didnt mention the car was beat out.

What is speed shift?

Now you know how the people from the dealers feel when you ask to test drive a car, and you rev the hell out of them haha.

I presume he is referring to shifting without disengaging the clutch.

he was not letting the car shift into neutral before the next gear. i.e. up->slam<-down. "Granny Shift" Like how MOST women drive (that i have seen). There really is only 1 way to shift a car correctly. and many people drive differently!

i dont want to get into peoples shift habits either.

you mean he was like (example, with any gears) in third and he quickly taps in the clutch and goes right down into fourth, well timed right when taking his foot of the clutch and went into the next gear?

Hard to explain but ive done that before. Tap down the clutch and switch to next gear right way. For example like, i never really hold the clutch down at all, i just do a quick tap down to like the floor and take off my foot and ill be on the next gear by the time im already coming out.

Is that what your talking about? Well lets say if you race someone, isnt that what you suppose to do? Get into the next gear right away so that the wheels never really just stop spinning (what i mean is, the wheels arent just gliding/rolling down cuz on neautral). I dont normally drive that way, but thats what i would do if racing someone, unless im on the freeway ill take that extra second to let the engine breathe in neutral.

Maybe he was pretending he was racing someone and see how fast he would reach.
