Do you install the gasket dry or with a gasket sealant/goo? I got a tube when I picked mine up today, but in the write-ups I don't see the gasket really meantioned. | | | 03-31-2007, 08:46 AM | #2 | doesn't care about you. I looked under my car the other day, and the lower part of my rear cover had some gear oil residue. It could be I just need to tighten the drain/filler cap, or tighten the bolts that hold the cover on. I never really got the drain/fill caps on tight, since I didn't have the right allen key. Also, I didn't tighten the rear cover down to any spec. On a side note, I haven't had a single problem with the diff since installing Quote: Originally Posted by Panzer_M Do you install the gasket dry or with a gasket sealant/goo? Did you use crush washers? If not it may cause a seep/leak. | | | 03-31-2007, 01:13 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2004 Location: Port St. Johns, Florida Posts: 2,242 | Quote: Originally Posted by L84THSKY I didn't use gasket sealer, but maybe I should have. I got a 14mm IIRC Hex socket in a set that's 5mm up to 16mm Hex sockets, the set works on brakes, diff and various other hex bolts BMW uses. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
