Anyone with an auto tranny..... i was wondering if any of you have experienced this before...my car is having problems and i think that it is my tranny but im not sure....so here is what it does....when i go to school in the morning, if i step on it a little bit it bogs down and all of a sudden get really ruff, and sounds like a V8 (i mean it sounds like a beefed up bigblock v8. glug glug glug is what is sounds like) and im thinking that it is not shifting down into the right gear so it makes it like that....the reason i think that its the tranny is because sometimes when i go to get on the freeway in the mornings it wont shift out of 3rd and the RPMs just go up and down like it wants to shift but cant.... any input would help alot thank you!!! I plan on getting a manual transmission to swap it out but i was wondering if this was the problem...thank you! __________________ 95 318ti Alpine white, E46 m3 front bumper, Clear Corners, Cosmo CAI, k&n filter, Flowmaster catback, front strut bars, sony 12" sub Kenwood 800watt amp & Aiwa Deck, stickers Future: Angel Eyes, Drop, Rims, and rear bumper 318ti.org sticker (added 100HP) | | | 02-03-2006, 05:26 PM | #2 | doesn't care about you. Are you sure you aren't in d3 sport mode on the highway? __________________ '99 Dinan M3 | | | 02-03-2006, 05:34 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: Tacompton, WA Posts: 309 | I'm really close to having 180xxx miles... yeah im sure thats in not in sport shift...it will shift into 4th but sometimes it doesnt catch into the gear right away __________________ 95 318ti Alpine white, E46 m3 front bumper, Clear Corners, Cosmo CAI, k&n filter, Flowmaster catback, front strut bars, sony 12" sub Kenwood 800watt amp & Aiwa Deck, stickers Future: Angel Eyes, Drop, Rims, and rear bumper 318ti.org sticker (added 100HP) | | | 02-03-2006, 07:12 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2005 Location: Malden, MA Posts: 672 | You might be low on tranny fluid. Check the levels, that sounds like a good place to start. __________________ "Power Rules, Smooth is Fast, Late Brake if you HAVE TO, But Always get the Inside Line.......and Fear No One." | | | 02-03-2006, 07:29 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: Tacompton, WA Posts: 309 | okay thanks...and if the levels are okay? what else would you check out if it was yours? Outside of that, I would say it might be bad engine timing. Anyone else back me up on that? __________________ "Power Rules, Smooth is Fast, Late Brake if you HAVE TO, But Always get the Inside Line.......and Fear No One." | | | 02-03-2006, 08:28 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2005 Location: Asheville NC Posts: 669 | my initial thoughts to this was engine problems as well.. start with a tune up if it's time for that before thinking the worst. | | | 02-05-2006, 04:27 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: Tacompton, WA Posts: 309 | thanks everyone for all the input....it is really stormy here in washington right now so its hard to check everything...i did check my fluid and it was lacking so i added to it ... i will def check the plugs because that is second time someone has said something about that....again thanks! __________________ 95 318ti Alpine white, E46 m3 front bumper, Clear Corners, Cosmo CAI, k&n filter, Flowmaster catback, front strut bars, sony 12" sub Kenwood 800watt amp & Aiwa Deck, stickers Future: Angel Eyes, Drop, Rims, and rear bumper 318ti.org sticker (added 100HP) | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
