"You constantly search on Craigslist for a 318ti, even though you have no intentions of buying one."

I was just doing that

I used something similar when I had my first ti.
The cop told me, "I know it's hard to keep the speed downin these".
I told him, it took me a while to get there.
Got the ticket but at least he didn't give me a lecture.

...when you can't see your car in the parking garage when you're walking towards it because you backed into the parking stall all the way to the wall.

Don't know if any of this has been said...

* You turn off the panic alarm by opening the door with the key and turning the car on
* You can drive with one hand on the wheel and drink a soda with the other
* You can park in tight spaces
* You can listen to weather band radio
* You can go 10 - 15 mph without stepping on the accelerator (sp)
* You get compliments about the car even without any mods on it
* You can somehow move furniture
* Normal size sun visors seem too big

Never got a ticket while driving the car way over the speed limit!!! Think the color, morea green, and size of car is hard for cops to notice. Got tickets, though, when I drove a silver Jeep fast...

Let's see, you know you drive a ti when
  • You pass a cop at 120mph and he clocks you at 91.
  • 90% of all parts bought for your car come from existing 318tis
  • You are surprised when a car manages to smoke you (it was a bmw 650)
  • You show up at town hall meetings to scream "Get your stinking government cash off my clunker!"
  • You worry that one day while taking the 20mph on ramp at 60, the back end really will spin out instead of just doing the sliding thing.
  • You look at e30 fans and wonder what they're smoking.
  • You can identify every other bmw with just a split second glance, but will never consider giving up your ti.
  • You can diagnose engine problems by telling someone to hold the phone near the car.
  • You can move your entire apt in one trip - two if you have living room furniture.
  • The cops at the end of the liberty tunnels stop you just on principle.
  • You know exactly how fast you are going by engine noise alone and use RPM only if you need a couple significant digits.
  • You tail other Tis just so you can see what mods they've done.
  • When people ask "is it supposed to make that noise", you respond with "that's a noise I know - if it made a new unfamiliar noise, THEN i'd be worried".
  • You see a cop pull onto the highway .5 miles behind you and you speed up.
  • You've never gotten your car inspected because any possible fine is more than it would actually cost to fix.

On that last one, I've only been pulled over once (in PA) since I got my PA plates. Cop let me go. Partly because he was being an asshole. Over a year later and his threats of having cops be on the watchout for my stickerless ti have yet to bear fruition.

You know you drive a 328ti when
  • You are accelerating and your rpm gauge starts looping.
  • You love the sound of VANOS in the morning.
  • And the afternoon.
  • You preface all conversations with auto parts and repair personnel with "I know I said it's a 318ti but. . ."
  • After a few months of this, you just lie whenever you have to get some non-shelf stocked part at AdvancedAuto because you don't want to have the same f*cking ten minute conversation with the same tech over how you know that's the part you want.
  • You know both your original VIN and the VIN of your swap by heart.
  • You order from dealerships by part no and doublecheck their quoted prices on realoem.

You know you drive a 318ti when:

-You just have the compulsion to own every riced out Honda that you see on the road

-You drop it into 3rd on the freeway just to spank a mustang

-You take canyon roads at insanely high speeds

-Your windshield washer nozzles don't work

-People look at the front of your car at a stop light and think it's just another BMW, but when you go, their jaw drops because they have NEVER seen a hatch back BMW before

-People ask you why you put BMW logos on a Volkswagen Cabriolet (I have seriously gotten that twice)

I don't know exactly how to phrase this one, but cops seem to ignore me more to go after a honda. And I have a front german plate. Illegal in California. I never get a ticket. Even when the cop flips a bitch and starts following me, they never pull my happy ass over. Has anyone else noticed that cops seem to ignore BMWs?

Yeah, it seems like you have to do something egregious - like 30 over the speed limit or weaving all over the place to actually get pulled over. Perhaps it's a case of profiling working to our favor.

No.
I've gotten a warning in my Mini, Mazda MX6 and a rental.
ALWAYS a ticket in the ti.
And once an additional ticket thrown in for good measure.

Well that's a big mistake.
Realoem is higher the MSRP.

You know you have a ti when,

.you try to park in another car and wonder where the rest of the rear window is..
.forget that other cars have a trunk... when parking
.that parts for E30,E36 and E46s fit lol
.you can add whatever you want to your car , and never worry about "coding"
.you realise only other ti owners get why its such a good car

and for those who have had, and gone on to other cars

.it gets compared to every other car you have had, and all you can say to yourself is "yeah , but in the compact i could do that aswell.."
