modest upgrade are OK as well....I do like BBKs...M3 spindles Since I want to run 15" track wheels to have better gearing, 17" for the street...I had to look hard into what will work for brakes. I have had good luck with properly setup stock size brakes and have owned most of the big name brands, upwards of $7k systems. I will be running E36, none M, vented rotors and calipers with good rotors, proper pads and will duct some air to them for track days, stock rear setup but again good pads and rotors and proper fluid of course. I installed M3 front hub and bearings yesterday because I had new ones here. I tried to fit the M3, 1995, spindles as I have a refurbished set and they are stronger but not a great deal heavier than the ti stock units. The only fitment issue is the calipers do not line up with the rotors. I could of made some adapters easily but did not want the flexing that could occur so put the stock spindle back on. If I find I need more brake later I will probably go with a Wilwood custom small but thick rotor setup, have some parts machined, etc....but for now I am probably going to be just fine. There is an article in the current Grass Roots Motorsports about a Superbird land speed car, 1800 or so HP, target of 300 MPH but only averaged 277. 11x3 front, 11x2.5 rear rotors, those are some fat buggers! |
