Turn the gain down, or adjust the balance. I've read that 6-6.5" speakers can be installed in the kicks-a good set of components would be a bit better. There is a reason it had 4" speakers in the back... __________________ No more ti. | | | 01-19-2011, 12:25 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2010 Location: Potomac Falls VA DMV Posts: 1,794 | Quote: Originally Posted by Marv17 now why would you want to do that? that would make the door panels look ugly as hell. besides the size of the magnet that a good 5.25 speaker would have would not allow it to fit nicely into the door panel. why don't you try to tone down the amount of sound coming from the back and raise the fronts? or custom fab something for the front speakers so it would turn the speakers to face you more. i believe there is already a web site that makes them for the e36. but please, i know its your car, but don't mess it up. | oh no. im bound to get flamed to what i did to my speaker set up. | | | 01-19-2011, 12:28 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2010 Location: Fiji Posts: 169 | Quote: Originally Posted by slow_ti oh no. im bound to get flamed to what i did to my speaker set up. | lol what did you do? any pictures please! | | | 01-19-2011, 12:45 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2010 Location: Potomac Falls VA DMV Posts: 1,794 | Quote: Originally Posted by anthony318ti lol what did you do? any pictures please! | well considering the fact that pretty much EVERY speaker in my car was blown, i found a sick deal on some pioneer 6 1/2 (4 of them with a sweet head unit) for 85 bucks. it was originally 200 or more, i cant quite remember but the holiday sale brought them down big time. they are nice and shallow and light (my ti will be on the track soon enough and im trying to keep weight down as much as possible. i put one in each door panel and down below near your feet. i custom fit them so it looks completely oem. the speaker JUST fit behind the dead pedal. looks like nothing was done to it but i have a 6 1/2 speaker down there. no rattling. but im sure you guys arent gonna like the look of the door panels. personally, i dont think it looks toooo bad, but its worth it cause i have a nice sounding system for the little ti. i dont need anything outta control. i have a six inch JL sub that ill eventually put in but im not looking for the crazy bass you can hear a mile away, just a nice thump that i can take out easily when i hit the track. lets just say i spent A LOT of time custom fitting them to my door panel. i made sure the fit was perfect cause i did not wanna mess up my door panel. i was stressing out when i was doing this cause cutting door panels isnt to fun IMO. i dont have any good pics at all due to my car being at my sisters house. i have a crap photo that she took for me from her old black berry. | | | 01-19-2011, 12:48 AM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2010 Location: Potomac Falls VA DMV Posts: 1,794 | Sorry for the crap picture. Umm just a question did you use the internal amp? wiring? or did you run your own wiring from the head unit to the speakers. Mine does not sound the way they should because I'm using a stereo that puts outs 4 ohms and the door speakers and rear speakers are 8 ohms. i have not opened the kickers yet to see what they are. Please do share your experience. | | | 01-19-2011, 02:19 AM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2010 Location: Fiji Posts: 169 | I have the stock setup 4 Tweeters / 4 Mid Range / 2 Low Pass powered by the BMW AMP.
