Default Can DISA be replaced without intake removal?

Something rattles inside the intake on my 250k mile 96TI.
After searching, I found it was the DISA.
I have a complete blown engine with a good DISA to replace in case I need one.
It looks like a very tight space since there is an ABS pump in the way.
Thanks.

I removed the upper intake and inspected the DISA. It is good. Nothing broken.

I will remove the accessory belt and check the water pump and power steering pump bearings. The belt pulleys and tensioners are new so that is not the problem.

How hard is it to replace the water pump?

Noise is coming from the water pump bearings.
Too much up/down movement on the water pump pulley.

Found a new water pump at the local auto parts store.

Yap. It's quiet now.

The water pump did not even put up a fight. It came out easy.

With 250k miles, I wonder what's going to be next to go out . . . .

Want a list?

Good job on the water pump. Doesn't sound frozen like everyone else's on removal? Question do you all use Dielectric grease on the o ring when you are installing a new pump. It makes for easier installation and for the two I had to remove, it came our easily. One note, I always renew the Water pump bolts when I do a water pump. I'm done with snapping frozen bolts due to old corroded bolts.

Send me the list please. I plan to keep this little car until the engine smokes. Then I will put another used one. I love this little car.

I put dow corning silicone grease on the wp o-ring. All the fasteners still have the zinc coating on them. The wp never leaked coolant. Just the bearings went bad.
