Default Is it time to put away those summer tires?

Okay the temp is getting colder up here in MA/NE area. I just changed over to my 15" all season set of wheels. Summer M3 wheels are going to storage until next year. When do you put on the REAL winter tires or just use all season all year round? Winter is coming! Have a set of winter tires waiting for the white stuffs.

I usually swap tires on the first warm weekend after Thanksgiving.
It's supposed to be 60 in my area this weekend.
3 cars, 3 sets of snow tires.
That's 12 tires I need to carry up a flight of stairs and 12 that need to go down.

Air conditioning, who really needs that?

Folks here are just finishing the change to winter tires. A few stragglers will wait until the first imminent frost or snow.

I switched to my "winter" set a month ago.

15" 185 Steelies with all purpose tires is what I use.

Default Studded

I just put the studs on mine. This makes me feel a little more like Bond.

Default You Could but...

Winter tires are effectively "softer" than normal or all season tires. You'll wear the crap out of them if you keep driving them when it gets warm. This was new to me until I moved "up here." Also when you have a light weight rear end, like a 318ti can even put "balast" i.e. toolbox's. The metal studs wear down pretty quickly if you drive year round.

Default All season

Sorry, all the things I just mentioned are because all seasons rarely provide enough traction for rear wheel drive vehicles with light rear ends when climbing snowy icy etc.

Btw, they can show a "cane" forming on the coast of Africa, then the week/weeks it takes to form up into a depression, Tropical Storm, Then the Stages of a True Hurricane, so we know the statis of the things fairly well.

Plus the Weatherman, get a hard-on when talking the hurricane talk down here, it's their big time in the limelight from other than stepping outside and saying.....the weather is.......Nice!

but Snowies, don't worry in a few more years, Global Warming is coming....so you too can have a 80 degree Xmas.(I'll have moved to the new Tropics of Siberia by then myself)
