Default Shift lever grinding

Hey guys,

Sometimes, but not always, when I'm moving the lever into the position for 3rd and 5th gears (just those, and always either both or none), the shift lever grinds. It grinds when the clutch isn't engaged too. I have the M3 lever. Sometimes it doesn't grind at all. It might be related to the cold. Once, it was so bad that I couldn't even get the car into 5th and had to stay in 4th gear the whole time.

Any ideas?

sounds **** bud

Try swapping the orig shifter back in to see if its related to the shortness

then do a oil change om the box-

If this dont help, see if the bushing that holds the shifter arm in place is still located correct.

if that isnt the prob.. then iŽd get a look at the prop, mabey the ballance weight is getting in the way , if the grabox bushes are worn badly

This is the Understeer.com car so it came with the M3 shifter. I realized that it also happens in first. It feels like the selector arm is rubbing on the balance weight. Bushing is fine, will do an oil change but don't think that will help... I'll check it out this weekend.

Thanks guys!

Today, after coming home for Thanksgiving, I heard a loud clunking noise and then persistent banging. I was very lucky to be less than 2 mi from home so I drove it home slow at 15 mph with my dad following me. Jacked the car up and saw that the torsional vibration absorber had come apart. The rubber between the inner and outer rings had broken and it was loose and flopping around my drive shaft.

I guess I'll just have to replace it.

Alright I'll just pull the broken metal ring off. Should I remove the inner ring (the piece that mounts between the Guibo and driveshaft too? What's the easiest way to do this? I was just going to cut the ring off with a saw, but is there an easier way?

you may need to split it from the guibo, and remove the inner flanch and get the ring outa the way too
