The fuel pressure is spot on at 3 bar and the spark plugs have spark when cranking. There was an intermittent code for MAF p1140 but it hasn't came back after many starts. Should I pull and look at the injectors ? | | | 07-31-2013, 02:00 AM | #17 | Member Join Date: Jul 2012 Location: Irvine, California Posts: 73 | Yes if you can check the spray pattern but most likely is the cps not getting signal from being dirty. | | | 08-01-2013, 01:40 AM | #18 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2013 Location: Virginia Posts: 104 | Turns out I have a crack in he engine block | | | 08-01-2013, 02:41 AM | #19 | Member Join Date: Jul 2012 Location: Irvine, California Posts: 73 | Where?!? | | | 08-01-2013, 10:11 PM | #20 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2013 Location: Virginia Posts: 104 | Not sure I have it at a shop and they said its a crack in the engine block something like its getting coolant in the cylinders or some **** | | | 08-01-2013, 10:49 PM | #21 | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2012 Location: Massachusetts Posts: 17 | In order of likeliness, most likely: blown head gasket, possibility of cracks in head, least likely: cracked engine block, it's cast iron. | | | 08-02-2013, 12:46 AM | #22 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2013 Location: Virginia Posts: 104 | What would a head gasket replacement usually run at a shop and would I need a new head if it had cracks in it? | | | 08-02-2013, 03:43 AM | #23 | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2012 Location: Massachusetts Posts: 17 | I bought my car under the terms of it needing a head gasket, at a shop it may cost in the thousands with the labor hours involved. The gasket or gasket kit costs about 150 bucks, you'll also need new headbolts. I was quoted 150 from a machine shop just to look at the head to see if it was cracked and that would be after removing the camshafts(which I did not do). That route would be the most thorough way to go. I saw a used M44 head on ebay for 375 a couple days ago. I also replaced many cooling related parts and little things you wouldn't ordinarily have been to get at without taken everything apart. Hopefully that gives you a little idea. A new motor may be a cheaper option if you can find one. | | | 08-03-2013, 02:15 PM | #24 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2013 Location: Virginia Posts: 104 | Quote: Originally Posted by apyndo I bought my car under the terms of it needing a head gasket, at a shop it may cost in the thousands with the labor hours involved. I don't think he looked into it at all. | | | 08-10-2013, 12:19 AM | #25 | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2012 Location: Massachusetts Posts: 17 | Replaced the camshaft position sensor Brandon to no avail so back to the drawing board.
