I was talking to my neighbor today and we were thinking of some new ideas for the car and wheels came up. I currently have Z3 Cross Spokes and I love them, but am thinking maybe it's time for a change. So I wanna see what you guys think. Should I keep or change. If I decide to change wheels they will not be OEM. If you have suggestions on wheels feel free to post. I like BBS. These are what I have for those who don't know: | | | 09-16-2007, 03:48 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: Florida Posts: 1,595 | Anyone know where I can find these and what they are? | | | 09-16-2007, 04:04 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: SoCal Posts: 549 | Those are BBS RS on my buddy's ride. As baller as baller rims get. Those are going on a mad price hike. Sets like that (17s) go for at least 2Gs. If you want the 'fake BBS RS', you can go Style 5s. __________________ 318Ti Sport (Gone, but thanks for your years of service) | M3 E30 | 190E-16V | M Coupe E36/8 | | | 09-16-2007, 04:04 AM | #4 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | BB$ RS's. Good luck finding a set as they're no longer in production. BTW, that's Paul's car from GoodTimes CC and the photo was taken at BimmerFest'07. IIRC, he scoured the earth for that set. edit; those are also 5 series fitment and his fenders are rolled extensively. Style 5's are a cheaper option, but they don't have the step-down lip like the RS's. Style 42's are just like yours, but with a larger lip and last but not least, Jon Sibal is rocking a set of gold RX's on his pimped out e36: Check these out. These BBS RS's are 7 series fitment and will require a fender-pull or widebody conversion. __________________ 4 MORE YEARS BABY!!! | | | 09-16-2007, 05:08 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: maritimes Posts: 1,433 | Quote: Originally Posted by AutoM3otives If you want the 'fake BBS RS', you can go Style 5s. | I wouldn't call style 5's 'fake bbs' .. they are made by BBS afterall and they are a good qaulity 2pc wheel from my experience from what ive seen, u'll still pay close to a grand for a nice set of style 5's... mine cost me about that in CDN funds and weren't even near what id call great shape __________________ 11/97 Base 328Ti | | | 09-16-2007, 05:33 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: SoCal Posts: 549 | Ok. "Fake RS". I used the word 'fake' to describe how its a fake RS, not fake BBS. Yes they are made by BBS. Funny how the part number on the Style5s use the letters 'RC' when in fact the design is totally different from the real BBS RC. Go for the real BBS RC if you're ok with not having any lip. They're 1pc but very light, not to mention they look very good, esp with the centercaps off. __________________ 318Ti Sport (Gone, but thanks for your years of service) | M3 E30 | 190E-16V | M Coupe E36/8 | | | 09-17-2007, 06:48 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: Florida Posts: 1,595 | Do I need my fenders rolled for style 5's? | | | 09-17-2007, 06:51 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: SoCal Posts: 549 | Quote: Originally Posted by Viper3812 Do I need my fenders rolled for style 5's? | Most definitely. A slight flare/pull might be needed esp if you want to run wider rear tires (probably anything beyond 215s) and/or if you have LESS negative camber in the rear after a rear camber correction. __________________ 318Ti Sport (Gone, but thanks for your years of service) | M3 E30 | 190E-16V | M Coupe E36/8 | | | 09-17-2007, 07:18 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2007 Location: LA, Bellflower, CA Posts: 3,613 | well if u change ur wheels i wanna call dibs on urs if u're gonna get rid of them lol. what size are they? but for my input ill go with the ones that cooljess posted a pic of that E36. those are sweet looking. | | | 09-17-2007, 10:53 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: Southern California Posts: 208 | I would trade my DSI's for your wheels in a hearbeat. I say keep them. | | | 09-18-2007, 12:39 AM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: Florida Posts: 1,595 | I like these, but they might be too big. http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...oducts_id=1186 If anything should I keep the rims the way they are or powder coat them black? My neighbor keeps nagging that I should paint them and leave a polished lip, but I don't see it looking right. | | | 09-18-2007, 01:31 AM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: Southern California Posts: 208 | The wheels in the link are nice looking but too big. I prefer 16 or 17 on E36's. I think your car looks perfect as is. The silver wheels on the white car looks really clean (one of the best on ti.org). | | | 09-18-2007, 01:58 AM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Florida Posts: 2,525 | The BBS LM wheels look pretty good and similiar to the style42 put no gold.. Great looking wheel.. I'm going lightweight on the next wheels in a 17x8, and whatever is somewhat cheap and readily available, probably team dynamics PR1.2, in the charcoal color. The car in the very first pic, the 4 door, looks like my car.. Only it looks like he has either cut his springs, or has coil overs with it dropped all the way down... | | | 10-26-2007, 07:48 AM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: Honolulu, HI Posts: 133 | I would like to retract my erroneous "change" vote at this time. I was click happy while navigating the site. . . Solid wheels! Wish my car had them, hint hint. | | | 10-27-2007, 09:37 PM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Land of the Vikings Posts: 2,700 | __________________ Vin Number decode and Retrofit Pdfs Available Free !
