Default Turn ON ACC and PUSH START STOP Button MOD!

Hello everyone,

My car: 1996 318ti

My Key got stuck after I got home, couldn't turn off the engine at all (I try everything that you are thinking YES , everything), after 3 hrs, I just pull the key out and let go the clutch to turn off the engine (but ACC still on so I had to pull the battery).

Anyhow, the dealer quote $500 to replace the whole cluster and keys. I'm thinking my 318ti only worth less than $2000 so why bother.... I DESPERATELY NEED YOUR HELP.

Is there any way that I can by pass that cluster and install an ON/OFF button for the ACC , and START STOP Button for the engine. I've done some research, but all I see was just Engine Start/stop mod, but nothing about the ACC mod.

Please help this is my only commuter, and this mod is out of necessity.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Just buy someones used steering column, install, be done with it. Otherwise, you need a toggle switch, relay, start button, the OE key, and some kind of alarm or something so it cant be started by someone else.

How will it work with a different key(transponder chip) and different steering column ? and will it works with 325(E36) with automatic transmission.

thanks

Swap chips in the keys or have EWS aligned with that new key.

take off the ignition switch, in the meantime, you should be able to start your car that way by just sticking your key in it and turning - just be gentle.
there is 2 little flathead bolts that have red wax over them, scrape away the wax to access the bolts.

I had to do this for awhile, then one day I was fiddling with the tumbler from the ignition switch side turning it back and forth and it broke free and has been okay since then, now im just careful with it.

How? my ignition stuck @ the 1st click, i couldn't take the tumbler out with the video above either. Anyhow, I might do a start stop button and a power button.

Thanks again for all your help
