Hello everyone, My car: 1996 318ti My Key got stuck after I got home, couldn't turn off the engine at all (I try everything that you are thinking YES , everything), after 3 hrs, I just pull the key out and let go the clutch to turn off the engine (but ACC still on so I had to pull the battery). Anyhow, the dealer quote $500 to replace the whole cluster and keys. I'm thinking my 318ti only worth less than $2000 so why bother.... I DESPERATELY NEED YOUR HELP. Is there any way that I can by pass that cluster and install an ON/OFF button for the ACC , and START STOP Button for the engine. I've done some research, but all I see was just Engine Start/stop mod, but nothing about the ACC mod. Please help this is my only commuter, and this mod is out of necessity. Thanks in advance for all your help. | | | 10-29-2009, 01:57 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: norcal - 94590 Posts: 3,186 | __________________ James 95 active w/leather interior and sport interior conversion, Vaders, full M-Tech exterior conversion. Otherwise, you need a toggle switch, relay, start button, the OE key, and some kind of alarm or something so it cant be started by someone else. __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 10-29-2009, 03:16 AM | #4 | Junior Member Join Date: Oct 2009 Location: USA Posts: 4 | Quote: Originally Posted by Bluebimma Just buy someones used steering column, install, be done with it. I had to do this for awhile, then one day I was fiddling with the tumbler from the ignition switch side turning it back and forth and it broke free and has been okay since then, now im just careful with it. __________________ 11/97 Base 328Ti | | | 11-02-2009, 06:29 AM | #11 | Junior Member Join Date: Oct 2009 Location: USA Posts: 4 | How? my ignition stuck @ the 1st click, i couldn't take the tumbler out with the video above either.
