Hello everyone!! I have a few questions I am trying to get answered. First off I just bought my first BMW!! Its a red 1996 BMWti M-Tech with all black interior. I love it!! Except for the interior. My first topic is; I'm trying to redo the entire interior of my TI. I cannot find anywhere where I can replace the seats or buy a new carpet or door panels. I am looking for "brand new" parts and accessories to do this. Basically I would like to change the entire color of my interior myself. Im looking for new carpets, seats, dashes, trims, etc... It's currently all black and I would like to lighten it up to make it feel more roomy. Any suggestions where I can buy authentic new parts for my interior? Im looking for a white/tan/black combo of all these things. 2nd topic is; Can this year and model exchange parts or accessories with other years or models. Im looking for a un-confusing but detailed explination of different BMW's I can trade parts or accessories with to complete my restoration. Thanks everyone. PS I am new here and am not "forum" savy so you might want to email me as well as here at haefeliemsff@yahoo.com with some info too. Hope to hear from you all with your suggestions | | | 06-09-2010, 09:31 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2009 Location: Long Beach, SoCal Posts: 373 | Quote: Originally Posted by Jason-BMW-Max Hello everyone!! Hope to hear from you all with your suggestions | Welcome Jason, If you were to find these components, most all would be used and not brand new. Except for the easy stuff like matt's & carpet kit. you would most likely be better off taking your car to an upholstery shop and having it custom done in that paticular color scheme. Sounds like the most success you would have in accomplishing this, is to find a part out car. __________________ 1998'SportR.I.P. 1995 Sport AlpineIII | | | 06-09-2010, 02:30 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2010 Location: Tulsa, OK Posts: 252 | welcome to the forum buddy and congrats on the BMW, i agree find a parts car with the color your looking for this would be the cheap and easy way to get all your after, but the hunt is the fun part.....right? __________________ 1996 318ti base: m44, 5 spd, lsd - 18x8 bremmer kraft wheels w/sumitumo tires 225/40R18 & bmw locking lug studs, 10mm spacers in rear, halo headlights, cold air intake, koni str.t struts and shocks w/mounts, h&r sport springs, serp belts, control arm & tie rod kits, front sway bar links, JVC kd-x50bt headunit w/ipod hook up in the glove box, alpine sps-500(front and rear), jl audio 10" powerwedge max, jl audio 250.1 amp, motor mounts, fuel filter, passenger side window motor, drivers lower window run, muffler hanger kit, various interior bulbs, left door striker/ajar switch, lower hood latches, changed from gray vinal to black leather shift and parking brake boots, m3 weighted shift knob, ngk-r spark plugs, magnecor spark plug wires(blue),new cabin micro-filters,new headliner & a-pillar mouldings, 5w20 synth-blend oil and filter, BG Ultra Guard syn. rear end fluid & ls additive, BG Syncro Shift II syn. manual trans fluids, stainless steel braided brake lines and dot 4 fluid, extra brake light mod, new p/s reservoir and rubber hoses need to do - fix door panels, paint job, MORE MONEY!! | | | 06-09-2010, 02:58 PM | #4 | Junior Member Join Date: Jun 2010 Location: Louisiana Posts: 2 | There are valid part numbers for new factory seat covers at realoem. Does anyone know if my car parts can be traded out with different models or year? PS: I am willing to trade but I will definaltley have to start my research on all the parts for the car too before I start diving into this. I'll let you know when I'm ready. | | | 06-09-2010, 11:17 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2009 Location: Orange County, CA Posts: 2,019 | i will trade you my interior for ur interior its a perfect set up for a custom swap u wanna do. The only easy swappable part is the front seats from another e36 (92-98) 3-series coupe. (but you still may need to do some electrical part swapping (SRS parts etc...). Swapping in other parts is extremely difficult or just plain won't fit. One or two people have been successful in swapping a dash from an e36 sedan, but it isn't a simple process. One thing that may be interchangeable is the carpet, but I haven't heard of anyone doing it.
